Ways to fix Mirage's Ultimate

The first thing i want to say is please don't get carried away with all of the complaining that is occurring.  As it stands, APEX is already a very polished game and only minor changes are necessary.  You all did an awesome job.

Now to the major point, Mirage's Ultimate is ultimately bad for several reasons.

Popping his move during a battle is a death sentence.  He doesn't move fast enough to escape, everyone can see him, and he can't shoot.

If he is going to keep this same model, I propose that his mirages actually do something like shoot fake bullets, run and slide, and other things that actually mimic fighting... or just remove them completely for a flash or him disappearing in smoke like Batman.  And he should be fully invisible.

But if i completely had my way, I would scrap the move altogether.  I propose a move where Mirage makes 2 other mirages that don't move, but actually shoot for 10 sec or until destroyed, and do damage (for about 10 sec) while mirage makes his escape by being fully invisible.  But he becomes fully visible the instant he fires a shot, or after 6 sec, whichever comes first.

This would give him great strategy and put his move on par with other damage dealing moves like Gibralter, Bangalore, and Caustic (whose ult. could also use a little work).

He wouldn't be able to destroy a full squad with his mirages, but it would give him lots of possibilities by creating an actual distraction.  Of course his Ult respwan time should be extended like Gibralter's so he doesn't get his move so quickly.

Tell me what you think.

  • I like this idea. However, as I mentioned in my post a trickster should be tricky.  If they go this route then the Ult should look identical/very similar to Psych Out. That way enemy players would not be able to tell if he is using his Tactical ability or his Ult. THAT would make him extremely tricky.

Say on Psych Out he gets one illusion that is reactive to fire i.e. dodges, and returns fire (even if it's low or 0 dmg). But on Vanishing Act he gets two illusions that are reactive and he also gets full invis. Enemy players would never known if he's using his tactile and he's one of the images they see or if he's using his Ult and he's making a break for it.

In any scenario his passive Encore needs a major change.
