Conventional wisdom: In order to be good at the game you must be able to "aim good," "stick with your squad," "aim good," "be good at aiming."
Recon wisdom: the single most important quality a successful Apex player should seek to cultivate is patience. It's harder than it sounds, and it will put you at odds with almost every single teammate you will ever have, but in the end it will make you a better player than any of the hotdrop clowns, which make up about 75% of this game.
Use a mic. And not to be rude.
And, as said earlier, keep your expectations realistic. Yes, you should always be asking yourself if what you're doing is going to help get you closer to winning, but no, you shouldn't lose too much sleep over never winning in a game where a 5% win rate is pretty respectable.
