@s0apt0ken Revenant, does have a unique niche... his enhanced crouch allows for more "stealthy" plays, which may not exactly have a factor in "head-on" shootouts. Thus he may be more situational to that extent? Although stealth in an FPS can have the same effects as in, like, a RPG with "Stealth-Criticals" ya know? That's far-fetched I know, but it's almost true isn't it? Catching an opponent off guard can many times result in a pre-mature knockdown. His abilities, are another end of it...
Ahh Mirage! Now, maybe I could upload a short clip of a Textbook Bamboozle? But to describe it; I'm sure we've all had times where we really were fooled. Like, it wasn't a matter of shooting between a bunch of decoys- and Mirage somewhere in between. BUT; The player-Mirage is legitimately "unseen" from the view of an enemy, while the enemy is facing the decoy- or even better, chasing a decoy behind LoS! I can see where the skill-ceiling can be higher for Mirage. But I can also see where Mirage can be limited to "fooling" players due to Mirage's environment at any given time. I feel like the Developers were trying to "universalize"(?) his ultimate, so that it can be used without too much thought or planning- understandable, I suppose.
Bloodhound has some interesting effects too. His Eye of The Allfather (tactical) has gone through some adjustments since Apex has launched. Its distance/range was increased and its cooldown was decreased I believe? Me personally, I refrain from using the ability too often- so as to not give away my position. BUT, I'll see some teams use Bloodhound's Scan ability very liberally! This really puts other teams who plan ambushes at a disadvantage! (AKA, myself... as I like to use the element of surprise). His Ultimate ability now has a quicker activation period -me personally, I LIKED the slow activation because of the cool animation, but I digress from the topic. During Beast of The Hunt, it can be useful to focus in on enemies who're highlighted to Bloodhound. Many times, enemies can be overlooked due to blending in with an environment- or just be further away. This can allow Bloodhound to only take a quick glance around his surroundings, ya know? And the movement speed can be a nice boost for pouncing on weakened enemies, Plus-! The slide is more reliable believe it or not.
It's true, some of these legends have some unique quirks. I personally wasn't feeling Loba... until I started sweeping entire areas and swiping/pinging all the purple/gold loot! Although, I'm just waiting until her Tactical, the Bracelet, is 'fixed'? (I think it's still bugged?)
- @StarMystro I see your point. But still, these legends take more skill to use than Wraith or Octane. In my opinion, any legend, in the right hands, is extremely powerful. But Wraith's instant get-out-of-jail-free ability is just simply over-powered.
@s0apt0ken"any legend, in the right hands, is extremely powerful." -I whole-heartedly agree!! But I see where you're coming from, regarding Wraith's Tactical ability. I think we an see that many people have strong viewpoints on either side of it too...
I really like the Developers take on trying to shift its power. They used that very term too "get-out-of-jail-freecard". Ofcourse, we can all agree that we see many players use Wraith's tactical as just that. Me personally, I prefer to use it more aggressively. Not as a retreat, but as a quick Invulnerable push, towards or around enemies. I really like how they increased the activation time, but also increased the speed and duration. Although... perhaps it could use more tweaking? NOT as a nerf/buff, but adjust it to being used -less reliably- as a free disengage?Although let's face it... sometimes something can be a bit too reliable and strong. And it's not recognized until it's tested out among the players
- @StarMystro I agree with you. Even though the nerf to how long it takes for the ability to start up was nice, it's still not that much longer than a gun's average reload time.
@s0apt0ken That's true... I mean, I have had good times where I could reliably punish a Wraith who was trying to escape using her tactical. Ofcourse, the slowdown also helps, but all it takes is a bit of a Line of Sight blocker to give Wraith enough time to escape. No, she shouldn't be like a couch potato with no use of her tactical ability... but it should require possibly more planning/skill- given that she's completely invulnerable to any damage.
- BBY_YOD46 years agoNew Veteran@Dedprice Crypto can be the best character if you play him well. You can’t expect to rush head first without setting your drone in the air and preparing ahead. Not every legend you run in like a headless chicken.
@s0apt0ken
That really depends. Overall, I would agree that Wraith, Gibby, and Pathfinder are probably in the Top 5.
I know a lot of other people would say that Watson and Caustic are also in the top five. But I would argue that that's only true in ranked with coordinated teammates. Trying to play either of those two in the main game, as a solo player, they're near worthless. Wattson is way to team dependent and Caustic got a huge nerf to his more aggressive play style with how his traps work now.
In non Ranked, I would say Lifeline is actually really good, because most people don't seem to know or care how to counter her auto revive. And I'd say much is the same for Rev and his Totem. But, it terms of meta/high rank play, these two kind of stink, still.
So, I would say the answer to your question, really depends on what mode of the game you're playing and where you are on the ranked ladder.- @s0apt0ken #1 Wraith hands down best all around character with smallest hit box. Fan fav way over used.
#2 Giby next best all around character except huge target, hardly gets any love by crumy fan base.
#3 Pathy extremely mobile and gets best positioning because of zips and being able to predict next circle.
#4 Caustic and Wattson good for holding down areas. Wattson is better at holding down, but Caustics gas bomb can be devastating.
#5 Lifeline sorry just feel like she really deserves a spot up here now with her revive ability being so OP at times, healing drone is great, and her packages can come in clutch with better equipment, heals and also give you some cover. @StarMystroCrypto is least played, but is extremely useful, if they would make it to were his drone didn't hurt him i would guarantee he would be atleast my 5th most played legend. I feel like Octane could use a buff because I feel too many characters can do what he does except better.
@Ironflower196 Ahh yes Crypto is indeed under-played, atleast from the games I've seen too. His Drone requires so much planning ahead to really see some wicked payoff, but the power is there. The time spent on setting up the Drone's location and the Player-Crypto's position in relation to the Drone (and his team) can be daunting, but it certainly can open up a great advantage over an enemy. Perhaps the E.M.P. not hurting him could alleviate some stress on the player? But I'd still be in favor of atleast keeping the usual slowdown and stun that it inflicts.
Octane... is kind of a weird one. His whole character is built on speed (Not including his Jump Pad, but his Ultimate is a nice Plus/Pro- for me anyway). Speed by itself can seem a little lackluster next to other abilities that can have some "solid" or "concrete" effects that alter the Player, Enemy, or environment. When it's just speed though... it's hard to say. The speed boost has to be higher/faster than other playable-characters, so that it offers advantages that other Legends cannot; While at the same time not be overpowering.
I know the Developers already -Just increased Octane's Stim speed. Me personally, I'm lovin' it. I see arguments for removing his health-loss on activation or changing his Ultimate... but if anything... I'd say just increase/decrease the speed more or less- as needed.
