They explained it in the patch notes. Its now less effective as a "get out of of jail-card" which was a very popular way Wraith mains used it. Like pushing in, getting a knock on one enemy and than phasing out to safety to heal as the teammates goes in for a 2v2 with the remaining enemies.
Now its more of a utility skill, to scout dangerous areas or move from cover to cover etc.
That isn't what's happening in game. It's now just a longer duration, faster, get out of jail free card.
Exactly what you said in terms of 2v2 knock, phase, regroup is now far more efficient.
- @S1mmOJ If wraith just got nerfed again I would've just stopped playing, tired of nerfs, 5 seasons of nerfs for the only character I like using? No thanks. This was the only trade off and it seems very fair, it isn't as easy to escape squads as it was before, and there were definitely issues with it activating.
On the upside; it finally feels like a smooth transition when activating phase walk and being in phase walk, before it was sluggish. Name me one legitimate nerf that has actually negatively impacted her play style.
I think you'll find she's never had one.
- @S1mmOJ I feel the exact same way, this isn't really a nerf at all. If they wanted to nerf wraith they need to focus on her outrageously tiny hitbox.....
- @The7O2Guy Don’t give em ideas, the low profile perk balances her out I think. She is only as good as the player because movement is key with wraith. Also, I feel her phase is about in the same spot as it was if you know what I mean, except it got reworked. It’s less of an escape ability, now more along the lines of octane’s stim.
Sorry @Stringer2048 no disrespect but you on another planet if you truly believe phase is akin to stim.
Stim is extremely penalised, 3 stims and octane is practically half health - and the regen is far too long to recoup that. Plus remember that octane can get sprayed with bullets whilst in stim. And btw, the octane reworks are still terrible.
Wraith is the go to legend for people who genuinely want an easy ride, now more than ever given this latest buff. She is the legend for people who cannot legitimately survive with other legends. This isn't an opinion, it's a reality if you see the stats on top 1,000 wins/kills (70% are wraiths).
I have had a million and one encounters where I'm absolutely dominating a wraith, she phases, and poof there goes all advantage.
I'd rather the Devs just openly admit that they have no intention of removing the advantage, but would prefer they stop buffing her and packaging it as a nerf.
On the other hand. Free game and EA/Respawn so I can't exactly complain given their legacy of terrible decisions.
It’s really too early to judge, and I’m not playing Wraith much, but many Wraith teammates told me she feels faster now and they were kinda happy with the new change that let them phase more often, for a longer time and the fact that they can see enemies now in phase is another good thing. I think she is nerfed (mostly because of shorter portal/ultimate), but maybe in general it is not as bad as people think. I think she will still be every where in both tournaments and casual games.
@ILikeGlueHmm I'm fine in that respect. 20k kills over a range of legends. This post is about leader ability nothing else.
And re: your YouTube vid - so what? Octane had that problem for over a year with zero sympathy. Wraith fanbois already crying less than a day in lol. This is exactly what I mean when I say people who can't play, play wraith.
