Why do I get a teammate I just reported for Sabotage the previous game?

Is there absolutely nothing going in the code of these buttons I click on in the game?

Other major games have "avoid this player" options. I'm not asking for that because I'd basically avoid half the game, but if I REPORT someone for literal braindead sabotage in ranked, I really don't want to play with them immediately again (or really ever).

I've never seen a game where buttons were just .jpg images and clicking on them did absolutely nothing (remember the crossplay on/off button?)

I honestly think Sabotage, and many more, of the report options are more or less useless. I mean how can the AI detect "sabotage" when that term first of all is very subjective? Perhaps it will flag if the same players gets report after report of different non-premade players.

And I guess "avoid player" wouldn't be a problem in pubs but in theory, it COULD mess with the matchmaking algorithm and severely prolong the queue time for everyone, especially in the higher elos where players are few. Because if player A is avoiding B who is avoiding C who is avoiding D who is avoiding A and E where A is premade with F and F is avoiding B and E etc etc etc, then it might become a big puzzle and ultimately much fewer possible ways of creating teams. And we all know how fast all of us would click that Avoid button after a bad game haha

My advice is to just wait 15-30 seconds before pressing Ready. The chance of getting with the same players as teammates is close to zero I would say.

"Other major games have "avoid this player" options. I'm not asking for that because I'd basically avoid half the game"

So at this point you have to ask yourself if the problem is half the game's population, or if the problem is unrealistic expectations?
  • Well half the game IS the problem, but unrealistic expectations of what?

Not to run into the middle of two teams by yourself without comming, do less than 80 dmg, and die for free in a Platinum ranked match?

I'd say my expectations of what should be happening are pretty reasonable. That's sabotage. Don't put me with that player.

I think matchmaking should be such that if, on average, you die within the first two minutes of a game over the course of the last five games and/or you do less than 400 dmg by the time you die (no matter when that is), you get a complete tier demotion. Doesn't matter if you share the rank with me, you literally have no business playing above silver

Just because you report does not mean that it is acted upon immediately.

Some one has to review the report and or game.

These things can take time especially since there are probably 100-1,000'nds of reports they get all the time.

    Patience is a virtue.

@BalladalidilaAI detects sabotage based upon the number of reports for that itself. So while they may have a clean account not being reported often then you have 4-10 people report for sabotage then the system "may" be able to flag the account for that concern.

Speculation mind you but i do know that those reports help a crap ton when it does come to the tos teams reviewing the account. Always use it even if you feel its useless.

Just to give a example Respawn has a discord for cheaters where you can post actual videos of it. They openly tell you that you always need to use the in game report system even over their discord posts because it is data they must see and if the data is not there then there is a chance the person who is reported may walk away free and clear due to no data matching up to the speculation.

  • @Str8UpD0gwater There is a theory or speculated theory that if you actually block the user it will not pair you with them again. Do note this is speculated and as far as im aware they have not proven or disproven it. But it is worth a shot.

The pessimist in me says those report categories are mostly there to provide a false sense of being heard and seen by the devs, i.e  to vent rage so to speak. But yeah; hopefully are those reportsnot leading straight to the trash bin. Hopefully, it at least collects data to be used for something useful, like detecting behavior certain patterns so they can design the game to avoid those in map-, legend, ability design etc.

But I personally doubt it can lead to direct punishment. I've never heard anyone being punished for report categories like sabotage and it seems very risky to let player reports be the "evidence" to punish people. I mean, a solo Q player could be falsely reported for "sabotage" in 9/10 matches with premade duos since premade duos blame the solo Q for everything hehe.
