Why do people have to be toxic?

Seriously. It's a game. Clam the * down.

Been playing ranked arenas and was having a pretty good run. Was teaming with a bunch of randoms.  Won most matches and before the game I'm about to mention, I'd only lost once. (Today).

For pretty much all the games my damage was well along side my teammates. If my teammates did 300-500 damage mine would be roughly somewhere in between or slightly under, and either tying for kills or at least having a decent amount of assist.(I use alternator alot so my damage is generally slightly lower)

The game with the toxic player I encounted went very poorly. My teammates hardly pinged out enemies, didn't bother going for materials, and from the very start they rushed in, getting themselves killed. However they managed at least 600 dmg apiece.

I was trying to be more strategic with my placement (but unfortunately never had a good angle) and would try to assist whichever one started taking the most damage, but because they decided to go completely opposite directions, I hardly every had the time to get to one before they got knocked and generally just got the * kicked out of me by the time I got there. I only managed a little over a 100 damage that game.

Even trying to stick with one or the other didn't go well because they'd either leave while I was attempting to shoot someone, or I'd just get beamed.

Neither of my teammates ever said a word until the very end when one of them decided to call me trash and curse me out for my low damage, and anything I'd try to say he just talked over. Dude loved hearing himself *.

It's laughable. Because if I'm so bad, why did all my other games go so well? Even more so when the game I had immediately after we kicked * and I had over 1k in damage.

Obviously the other team was very much better than me and my team. That shouldn't warrent another player cursing someone out when they lose.

I can't account for players who want to play a team based game but act like a one soldier army.

My aim could be better, my placement could be better, my strategies could be better, but I can't make up for a team that has no interest in playing like a team, especially against a team of very clearly more experienced players with better communication.

We all have good games. We all have bad games. Get over it.

@Balladalidila Unfortunately I'm no great player so when someone decides to curse me out and harass me, it's because I am the weak link.
I have good games and bad games. Started the ranked matches when I hit lvl 100. I don't like being a burden on my teammates, and I certainly try my hardest, but I don't think it should warrent anyone being harassed over it.
Like why use your mic at all if you aren't going to use it to communicate strategy instead of harassing your team?
I wish I had more time to try and improve my game play, but it seems like I'm going to be stuck as an below average or average player.

The current rank system for lower divisions is a joke since you gains so much free RP for just not fighting which leads to players advancing way above the actual rank that corresponds best to their actual skill level. I have IRL friends who have <1 KD but still manage to "hide" their way to diamond4 every split....  I think the main reason for the changes to a new rank system next split is to allow players at lower skill level to stay much longer/indefinitely at a rank which suits them better.  So hopefully, you will have a better ranked environment to grow amongst equally skilled players next split =)

Yeah there is a risk that high elo players will farm 20k and 4k badges by just play on their Bronze/silver accounts, frag and stomp and suicide before top 14 if the game hasnt gone good enough by then  and therefore be able to play indefinitely at that rank.  Hope Respawn does something about this too if this becomes normal.

@Balladalidila "Good players usually dont even bother but just insta-leaves (which I guess can be seen as toxic but actually is a pre-emptive measure to NOT become toxic)"
Exactly what i do to prevent getting banned since i started playing.
A huge portion of the rage is bcs of the more than poor mate matching. They could use the tons of metadata they collect to actually match working teams (similar fav dropspots, playstyle, ect.), the question is ... why dont they do it ? Do they want you to be enraged ?
If i see "below 100 kill mates" i just quit ... no offense but it just doesnt work out, the "weightclass" is just off.
  • @r1ggedgame I agree the poor matchmaking plays a big part in player toxicity, but it seems a poor excuse for those players who do stick with their teams to yell at them and curse them out because they aren't at the same level as the rest of the lobby.
Playing ranked arenas however, you get penalized for leaving, and loose points if you don't win, no matter how well you yourself do in the match.
I bet if they changed the ranking system up a bit, and based points more on how well you do as a player than how your team does as a whole would help a lot with that.
The good players still wouldn't want to be stuck with a weaker team, but there would be more incentive for them to keep trying than for them to think 'I'm gonna lose points anyway with this trashy team so I'm going to game throw" -which is literally how one of my matches went this week when myself and a teammate didn't live up to the thirds expectations.

@XxColdFangxX2 warnings and not a single ban in 2.5 years of Apex.
If someone uses swearwords aimed at me , i just wish him a nice vacation from apex and press report ...
The Reporting system works really well in that regard : someone using the R Word , go report it , will def. bring the toxic guy 1 week on the bench ! We tried it and it works 100%.
But since ppl think the reporting tool doesnt work, those toxic comments go unreported. Mostly due to the cheat reporting , which doesnt really seem to be processed.

  • @r1ggedgame Oh I do. I don't tolerate it in the slightest, even if I am the weak link in the team, it's downright unnecessary.
