The fact that placement out scores kills to me is the stupidest thing a shooting game can ever have in ranked. Thoughts?

@SwaTSNiper242 So let me get this straight you think kills is greater than winning, right?So if we take the pretext of what the game is designed about and its lore history the game is about winning the Apex Game's as a TEAM. The legends form up as team to challenge each other to be the Champion of the Apex Legends games in order to get there you have to either outsmart, out gun or out last all of the other teams.So if the goal is to win, which it is, then the goal should be rewarded higher than kills. I mean getting three kills and 18th place is not an achievement, getting 5 kills and ending up 17th place is also not really an achievement. Getting 3-5 kills and 1st place or for that matter 2nd place is an achievement.

My brain still has a hard time understanding how on drop I can get 6 kills and 3 assists and then die 5 minutes later and still go negative 36 rp. 😕 In gold lobbies mind you. hah

@reconzero I'm glad you're not in charge. Arenas is already run with the rp tied into winning or losing.And it sucks. All it does is create an even more toxic environment.@Asmodeus566 @SwaTSNiper242Personally I don't think kills or placement should be more important than the other.Why should getting to 5th placement with no kills have better rp rewards than say coming in 6th with 3 kills?That's kind of * up that the dude who hid most the game gets more points.Having kills mean less has basically turned ranked into rat and scan meta paradise.In a game where being the best and coming out on top is priority, placement and kills should be hand in hand with winning being the most important, and appropriate bonuses for team survivability, and things like revives.

I believe someone else already mentioned about why that in fact would not work well and I 100% agree that it would just make people stop playing ranked in general as it's part of the reason why i really don't play ranked.Honestly thought it was obvious but that would be due to the added pressure from a win only rewards system.Pvp games especially ones like apex already have a certain level of toxicity, even in pubs, it's not really avoidable, but the more pressure that's added to do well, the more it incorporates player toxicity.In ranked game modes there is already an added pressure to do well because of the rewards gain and the potential to climb to higher level tiers.With a win only rewards like they have done in arenas, it pretty much maxes out that pressure because now in order to get anywhere, your whole team has to play like gods.There's no benefit for doing well yourself or carrying your team so a lot of people just look at their teammates, automatically decide they're no good, and just don't even try.As a player who is around the lower end of being decent, I've been on both ends where I do very well in a match, get like 1k damage, 4 kills, 2 assist, and know the frustration for getting nothing for how well I did because we lost the match. The other team just being better or because my teammates couldn't hold their own. Losing out on something you tried your hardest to earn and not getting even a portion of what your could have earned, because lack of team strength makes people want to lash out.I've also been on the end where I've played like absolute trash and do deserve 0 for how I played, but then my teammates are in the position above. They would have done very well and got nothing. And when people do well and still lose they start looking for the reasons why, and when they see the teammate with the lowest amount of damage, what do you think happens?Let the cursing begin, because how dare you hold them back and for some reason they're entitled to voice their toxic opinion because you lost them the match.A win only rewards system does very little to entice team work..sure it makes you want to get the win all the more, but it causes backlash when your team fails.It doesn't mean you're going to communicate anything with your team or even try to work together, I've gone entire matches without a word or a ping from anyone until the match is over, and it's just them cursing for losing.https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Feedback/Ranked-arena-idea/m-p/11955289#M99629I had my own idea for a ranked rp system, but it would only work for arenas. I know it's still flawed but the idea of it is to keep those players that belong in higher tiers, in those tiers, makes it a bit harder to climb so players who don't belong in those teirs don't reach them, and hopefully adds a little inconvenience to smurfs.

Why is the ranked based off placement and not kills? SO Stupid.

@SwaTSNiper242 then i wonder how you can get +600 RP when you only get 125 Points for a win. Placement matters but it clearly doensnt outscore kills as you describe.

Placement still matters more, without placement your kills do not mean a thing, it is not the placement RP that matters all that much (does not hurt though) it is the KP modifier for higher placement that maximizes the RP if you have KP.
Math 101 time:
1st place gets you 125 RP and a 25 RP modifier for each kill, lets say you win and have 8 kills that would be 200 for the kills +125 = 325
2nd place gets you 95 RP and a 23 RP modifier for each kill, lets say place 2nd and have 8 kills that would be 184 for the kills +95 = 279
5th place gets you 45 RP and a 16 RP modifier for each kill, lets say you place 5th have 8 kills that would be 128 for the kills +45 = 173
10th place gets you 10 RP and a 10 RP modifier for each kill, lets say you place 10th and have 8 kills that would be 80 for the kills +10 = 90
14th place gets you 0 RP and a 1 RP modifier for each kill, lets say you place 14th and have 8 kills that would be 8 for the kills + 0 = 8
Placement is what really matters with KP to go along with it. 15 kills can land you in 14th place still and you end up with 15 RP that kinda hurts when you could place higher with that same amount of kills and get 375 RP out of that due to the 25 per kill mod + the 125 for winning to boot (500 RP).
The math does not lie.

Just keep playing and when you reach Diamond or even Platinum you will see that you need kills AND placement to have steady RP gain. I agree that placement alone gives too much RP in bronze to gold. It incentives bad players to never learn the basic skills in this game since the easiest way to rank up is to just jump alone in a noname area and hide for a while... Its stupid and not good for the ranked ladder since it keeps advancing players way above their actual skill level. So I guess the real ranked starts and plat

You misunderstood me based on my lack of accuracy with what I said. I think winning trumps everything but I certainly think kills should be 2nd behind winning and definitely over placement. I think points for kills should be the highest reward under winning the entire game. Killing should reward higher points than everything except winning.

Oh, I understood you. I'm just saying that in reconworld there would be zero rp for kills and zero rp for placing anything below first. If the game rewarded only winning then players would be forced to judge far better than they do now just exactly what behaviors contribute to a win. As opposed to doing things which offer a quick adrenaline fix while at the same time lowering the odds of victory.
