Wraith Abilitiy

I see that there are other posts pertaining to what I believe I am referring to, but am far too lazy and not interested to read through paragraphs and paragraphs of issues and their ideas, I would rather just voice my opinion and feel special.

The Wraith ability is far too weak. Specifically, the phase ability. Not even compared to the other legends, but simply in general and it becomes almost pointless to use in certain situations. I feel as if the timespan the portal ability lasts, coupled with the fact you can see a blue stream following clearly what is a player, from what seems like a mile away, and easily track the movements, and the whole objective of the ability is to NOT be tracked. I understand having some sort of signifier, i.e. haptics, or a buffed version of what it is now, but its virtually useless. Especially in close fights, the amount of times that I have gone to the ability to get away, and end up just being step by step followed, presumably them laughing at how stupid your attempt was, and end up choking on a peacekeeper shoved down my throat when I phase back. Obviously there needs to be balance to it, and not just some completely invisible ghost floating around the map unseen, but the fact that the sole purpose and objective of the ability is defeated by a Pathfinder on foot, seems a bit counterintuitive.

Either your speed while using the portal should be increased or the duration of the portal should be increased, but either way, the goal is to gain ground on someone while being next to unseen, not look like an out of shape glowing orb on a target practice range.

  • And before anyone gets started about how I am missing the point about Wraith's ability and it's not about being invisible but all about being invincible, I think you'd be missing one key point.

The whole idea of Wraith's ability is, yes, to avoid damage, but you do so by phasing into a portal that only you can access that takes you over a distance that you are not able to otherwise do. You're not using it to sit there, in a corner, silently, acting as if nobody can see your ignorant *, but is to be able to cover distance to either get closer to the enemy or put some space between you and the enemy. The abilities are implemented to give you a "competitive edge" over an enemy in different ways, but thinking that Wraith is meant for not taking damage is just focusing on one benefit of it rather than its actual purpose.

Think about it after a portal is set, you quickly race through a black and white tunnel that is supposed to be perceived as a different reality, and basically instantly travel through time, covering a massive amount of distance. You disappear into this alternate reality and are able to move in a way that nobody else can. Wraith has the warning voices in her head that tell you when an enemy is aiming at you, someone has been there, or a trap has been placed around you. The whole idea of Wraith is that you are able to use this alternate reality, to either prevent someone from catching you by surprise, or you are able to catch someone by surprise by sneaking up on them, changing your position, and so on. So being able to easily be tracked and seen, as it stands now, and can be step by step followed and ADS on you the entire time, clearly defeats the purpose of the portals, as you see when you experience using one. In a fight, it is slow, trackable, and predictable, giving you absolutely zero competitive advantage. Saying that taking no damage is the purpose makes zero sense, because if you are just going to phase slowly and visibly, to the other side of the damn room, I'm just going to walk my * right behind yours while I reload my shotgun and ADS waiting to crack you in the head.Yay!! I avoided damage for 3 seconds while I tried to reset the fight and make the game more interesting! But oh no, the guy just did one quick slide and caught up to me and now I'm back in the lobby.

So yes, when you receive one of those warning voices or are shot at you can immediately phase to not take damage, but thats not the purpose, it's just one of the many uses and benefits that you can use that ability for. The purpose is the act of traveling quickly, further than normal, and in an alternate reality unseen from any Pathfinder on the map. I'm not phasing so I can temporarily avoid damage while I sit in silence and no bullets can hit me, I'm using it when I have a full squad on me and my teammates are dead, or when I just knocked a guy and am low and am going to heal, or whatever else you can muster up. Sure, one use of it is to avoid taking damage at a given second, but as it is right now, its like wack-a-mole because I just pop up 10 feet to the left or in the left corner instead of the right corner, all the while being seen by the enemy. Im not saying you should be completely unseen, but the purpose of Wraith is not served in its current state in the game.

  • Totally agree. I personally never heard the passive warning voice... with the announcer, my teammate chat and the general noise of the game, maybe it gets drowned. A visual cue would easily fix that.

And yea, the "q" ability got me killed more often than not. The fact that you lose sight of everyone and that they can easily follow you makes it terrible. Even her ult feel week compared to most other legend.
  • Wraiths strongest passive is having the smallest hitbox in the game, depending what other legend you compare its few tens % or over 100% difference.

    Example:
0 shield Wraith and Gibraltar shoot each other with center chest aimed peacekeeper shot while both of their characters are slightly turned.
Guess which one dies? Yeah Gibraltar "the tank" of this game, because he eats all bullets any day with his huge 140% larger hitbox.

Before Respawn adresses this always on buff of wraith, her abilities could as well be nothing and she would still wreck in fights.
But wraiths skills are useful, phase is one if not the strongest fight escape button in the game.
Watch any big name apex streamer (all of them play wraith also by coincidence?) and just see them abuse that phase when they would have died with any other legend due to being surrounded by enemies.

  • Let’s have a discussion on buffing the most overplayed class in the game with the smallest hit box......

    dude seriously?
