Wraith Buff
I've been playing Wraith since I've started playing Apex, and overall, i quite like her character and her skills. and by no means am i a expert player. On paper, her skills seem really useful. Her p...
I tend to disagree that wraith is weak. It's the character I have the most success with. Just because of the "Oh *!!" button
Other's character abilities are fun, sure, but the "oh *" button is what actually save lifes.
Bangalore has somewhat the same with smoke
But Bangalore can use her smoke twice and has a devastating ultimate ability on top.
To compare directly; Wraith's passive is clunky and half of the time doesn't warn you until you have already been shot. Bangalore's passive works reliably.
Wraith's Q renders enemies invisible to you, but you stay visible to them, while also being unable to do anything except moving for the duration. Bangalore's Q can be used twice and can render your entire team basically invisible, while allowing you to continue shooting, healing, reviving or what have you.
Wraith's ultimate allows her to run quickly for a while and place portals where her run starts and where it ends. She is vulnerable while she runs as she cannot do anything else for the duration, and anyone can use the portals - enemies and allies both. Bangalore's ultimate is an artillery strike without friendly fire, it's very useful in just about any situation.
I think when comparing those two directly, there is just no way to come to the conclusion that these things are balanced.
Wraiths portal would make so much more sense if you could create it by aiming at the target location rather than moving there.
almost like pathfinder's zipline. i think that would be pretty cool.
"Wraith's Q renders enemies invisible to you, but you stay visible to them, while also being unable to do anything except moving for the duration. You conveniently left out that Wraith's Q makes her avoid all damage and move faster for the duration. Her ultimate isn't just a point and click damage attack like Bangalore's, Its tactical squad movement and therefore takes a little more strategical aptitude. she is actually one of the strongest characters imo. Just because you aren't making effective use of the tools you are given does not make the tools weak.
I do like the suggestion of the option to close the portal prematurely.
Wraith is pretty overrated imho, people just like her for the paranormal emo whatsoever girl vibe.
swapped from bangalore to wraith this season and my KD went up by 1.0. wraith is absurdly stronger than bangalore there is just less margin for error. if youre new to the game play bangalore or gibralter. if youre more advanced pathfinder or wraith may suit you better.
Actually bangalore is quicker and has more utility than wraith, its nearly impossible to chase a bang through her smoke but wraiths tactical gives no speed buff at all she just walks normal speed she is actually a very slow character. The only benefit is the smaller hit box.
Lol you are so wrong it's hilarious.
Actually there are 8 ways to expose bangalore from smoke: gold close range optic, gold long range optic, crypto drone, bloodhound q/ulti, loba q, pathfinder q, octane q, w key + some brains.
And no bangalore has much less utility than wraith both offensively and defensively by a gross amount, she just has a lot more unnecessary margin for error which makes her appear better to newer players.
Wraith's portal that comes off cooldown every 100 seconds or so along with her q if you need it and a thermite grenade is a better get out of jail free card than bangs smoke or artillery by a mile. Bang is quicker but in terms of group utility defensively speaking portal is ridiculously more effective at moving a team out of harms way and synergizing with other teammates abilities than artillery (which has a much longer cooldown) and smoke grenades.
Wraiths q when played with a good team is actually much much stronger than bangalores smoke which is why its on a 30 second timer. The way youre supposed to play wraith with a team offensively is to go in first do a ton of damage and q out to heal while your other two teammates take care of whats rest. Bangalore cannot do this as she will either be killed or cloud the place with too much smoke for her teammates to get a visual.
In other words wraith greatly is superior in offensive and defensive utility than bangalore. This also is why you see pro players playing wraith and not bangalore, because of wraiths vastly superior utility. I know this because i played maybe 4 weeks of last season and got 80 wins on bangalore within that time period, changed to wraith at the end of the season and my KD has doubled and have a higher win rate thus far.
In total bangalore though fun to play is a much weaker character but yea if youre new to the game youre not going to be good with wraith and think she's weak which is literally all ive read on this ridiculous forum feed. Thankfully it seems respawn listens to pro players and not this horrid forum feed. Like this whole "qq idk how to play wraith" forum feed is cringe to say the least. A good player can get themselves out of trouble and kill enemy players, a great player can get their team out of trouble along with themselves and help their team get kills as opposed to just themselves.
Other than that, this shadow nerf to her movement speed while casting portal was entirely uncalled for and respawn needs to revert that or at least put it in the patch notes.
Edit: Wraith's speed buf is actually her ulti she gains a great amount of movement speed when using it--well at least until this recent shadow nerf to it. And you should not need high amounts of movement speed more than its cooldown timer unless youre newer to the game and making a fair amount of tactical errors. Also here's a tip: slide jump during wraiths q and you get a small movement speed increase which is really all you need if you have planned your exit and not blindly walked into a fight.
