I haven’t really fleshed out the lore for most of them, mainly because I don’t know much about the worlds of the characters like "Solace", etc. I did, however, flesh out their abilities and the concepts I was going for. Here goes...
(Legend no.1) Raid
Real name: Jackson Williams
Age: 32
Gender: Male (Heterosexual)
Homeworld: Gridiron
Voice: African-American accent (Like Bangalore)
Legend Type: Offensive
Overview: Jackson is an ex-soldier and leader of countless infantry teams, with many won battles boasting minor casualties, he has acquired quite the track record and many accolades in service. He’s an infiltration expert, he’s all about busting in, getting the job done and getting everybody out safely.
Lore idea:
He is one of the first to try a new combat enhancing suit, effectively turning him into a super soldier. Signing an endorsement deal with the suit manufacturers to mass produce the product. They are some jealous, shady figures in Raid's platoon that sabotaged his suit in battle and betrayed him (Why would they do that? IDK) Raid almost lost his life in battle, he did however, loose his endorsement deal when media found out about the suit failing him in battle. Afterwards, Raid created his own combat suit and aspires to mass produce and sell to the factions of his choosing. He joined the Apex Games to win enough money that could fund his endeavor.
Affiliations: Bangalore. Bangalore is usually a tough gal. But not when it comes to the livelihood of her younger brother ‘Jackie’. She dreads that he followed in her military footsteps and would have rather him work a safe, more respectable career like a scientist. She wants him to leave behind this risky life and settle down, giving her that niece or nephew she wants dearly, for she has not her own children, and doesn't plan on getting any. Jackson has been trying to prove himself to her since they were kids that he can handle himself, and against all odds, get the job done.
Some In-game dialogue:
Bangalore: “Jackie, be safe, nothing stupid ok?”
Raid: “I know Annie. I’m no rookie.”
**
Bangalore: "How does mom feel 'bout you joining the games?"
Raid: "She doesn't know. I wouldn’t hear the end of it if I told her. And you're not going to tell her either."
**
Bangalore: "Jackie, we just don't want anything happen to yo-"
Raid: "I make my own decisions Annie. I can defend myself."
Appearance: Buzz haircut. Brown skin. Face looks like the man-version of Bangalore. Trim, muscular guy. 6 ft 1 and 185lbs without his armor (205 with his armor). Armor is mainly white with blue accents. Looks like a G.I Joe suit with no helmet. The energy emitting from his suit and abilities are blue.
Abilities:
Passive: Jack of All Trades
Raid has all class passives. He can use survey beacons, gain bonus loot from blue supply bins, etc. (I wanted to give him a passive that reflects his past life as an infantry squad leader and shows his intellect for combat.)
Tactical: Perimeter Shield
Raid deploys an energy shield before him that blocks gunfire and repels ordinances. (The shield looks like lifeline’s shield in appearance but a bit smaller and sleeker in design). If Raid passes through the shield his suit becomes charged, giving him a speed boost of 30% for 3 seconds. The suit has visuals of kinetic energy leaving it when charged. A shield lasts 9 seconds. Raid has 2 charges of Perimeter Shield (A nod to Bangalore’s 2 charges of Smoke Launcher) Shield Cast time: 1 second. Cooldown: 30 seconds. Cooldown starts when ability is casted.
Ultimate: Energy Grenade
Raid throws a neon Energy Grenade that bounces and detonates after 3.5 seconds (similar to a regular grenade in function). The Grenade deals a set 35 shield dmg (Damage does not fall off due to proximity). Enemies hit by the grenade have their body shields disrupted for 7 seconds (They are unable to shield-swap or use shield cells or batteries for that duration.) The Grenade also briefly slows them like an arc star would and highlights them with blue static electricity (similar to Revanent’s Silence effect) for the duration of the shield disruption. Cooldown: 150 seconds.
Some ability synergy ideas:
1. Throwing Energy Grenade through Perimeter Shield propels the grenade's flight-speed and increases it's travel distance.
2. Throwing Energy Grenade through Perimeter Shield magnetizes the grenade making is attract and stick to a close enemy after landing. Sticking deals 5 damage and plays a unique sound to notify to Raid it sticked to a target.
3. Shooting the Energy Grenade mid-air bursts it prematurely, making the blast do less damage (only 15) but creating a raining energy-scatter, hitting a wider area than the usual blast would have.
(Legend no.2) Grizzly
Real Name: Unknown
Gender: Male (Subject to change)
Age: Unknown
Homeworld: Talos
Voice: Deep and Strong. Norse accent.
Legend Type: Defensive
Overview: Grizzly is a member of the Felagi Fighters and believer of The Old Ways 'and' modern methods like Bloodhound. He is a ‘Technological Trapper’ that progresses by trapping his foes and catching them off guard.
Appearcane: Tall, stocky man. Bear cowl headgear with face peeking out bear mouth.
Affiliations: Bloodhound
Abilities:
Passive: Heart of the Allfather
Grizzly regains 25% of all damage dealt to him in health over 1.5 seconds (0.75 second intervals). (Healing starts 2.5 seconds after being out of combat). Cooldown 20 seconds. Additonally, Grizzly's Finishers also restore 50 hp.
Passive Perk: Fortified (Grizzly is tall and thick and armourEd with thick beast pelts)
Tactical: Beast Trap
Grizzly puts down a high-tech bear trap that snares a single enemy for 1.75 seconds, dealing 25 damage to them. Grizzly has 3 charges of Bear trap and can have up to 6 traps on the map at once. Cooldown 30 seconds.
Ultimate: Net Gun
Grizzly shoots a net ball at target area. Upon landing on the ground the net lays camouflaged on the floor waiting for its next unsuspecting victim/s, and contracts after 1 second of enemies walking over it. Enemies caught by the net are heavily slowed for four seconds, their reload and gun-swap speed are also heavily slowed for the duration and they cannot use ordnances, but they can shoot. Enemies also experience a net-like mesh on thier field of view. Caught enemies are highlighted with the enemy icon for Grizzly and his allies lasting the slow duration. The net ball looks like an oversized rubber band ball. If the ball itself hits a target it applies these effects soley to that target in addition to dealing 15 damage to them. Cooldown: 120 seconds.
(Legend Concept no. 3) Blackbird
Real name: Unknown
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Homeworld: Talos
Voice: High-pitched. Norse accent.
Legend Type: Support
Overview: Like Bloodhound and the before mentioned 'Grizzly', Blackbird is a Felagi Fighter of Talos and believer of the 'Old Ways'. He is a 'Technological Scavenger' who uses mechanical ravens to scout loot and return it to his party.
Passive: Scavenger Beast
Blackbird has a mechanical Raven that scavenges loot for him. Every 4 minutes the Raven brings one piece of loot for Blackbird with a rare chance of sometimes bringing two pieces of loot. (Only loot small enough the bird can carry like barrels, mags, stocks, scopes, helmets, ultimate accelerants & ammo. Absolutely no body shields or backpacks, or big weapons) The rarity of the bird's loot increases over time. The bird will never bring something Blackbird and his allies cannot use. [Example if all of Blackbirds allies have Lv. 1 barrels, when the bird brings a barrel it will be Lv. 2 or higher. Another example, if none of Blackbirds allies are using light weapons, the bird will not bring light mags nor light ammo.] If t
Passive Perk: Low Profile (Blackbird is a small, frail man. Wearing attire similar to Bloodhound.) The first Scavenge happen 1 minute after landing on ground and then every four minutes after. If Blackbird was unable to get a weapon in that time the bird would bring him a pistol or smg.)
Tactical: Beak Picker
Blackbird sends out his mechanical Raven before him. The bird seeks out and harasses the first enemy it finds (with a search distance and diameter of 15 meters) orbiting closely around the enemy for 10 seconds and squawking to notify Blackbird. While harassing the enemy, the bird's surveillance tech display's the enemy's loot to Blackbird on his hud. Blackbird can choose between two orders on the D-pad, 1. To make the bird pick off all the enemy's small loot dropping everything to the ground and making them vulnerable to attack (again not body armor. See passive.) or 2. To steal one desired item and return it to Blackbird. The Raven can be destroyed and has an hp of 60. Beak Picker has 2 charges and a cooldown of 45 seconds.
Ultimate: Wings of the Allfather
After a brief channel, Blackbird himself spans mechanical wings and is capable of flight for 30 seconds. Cooldown: 120 seconds.
Ultimate Passive: When Blackbird revives an ally, he spreads his mechanical wings around him and his ally, cocooning them from gunfire and explosions. The mechanical wings have an hp of 75.
Thought behind concept: I really like Bloodhound's concept and would love to see him lead a "Felagi Fighter" team in Apex 🙂
When I close my eyes I can hear Bloodhound calling thier names, "Blackbird, Grizzly. For Artur!"
(Legend no.4) Clover
Some Lore:
Bought from an orphanage and trafficked into a bio-research facility, Clover is the mutant product of countless gene-code experiments. Sometime after escaping the facility she was discovered and hunted by a heinous scientist "Caustic" as he is 'fascinated' by her specimen.
Appearance: Faint green skin and gold eyes. Dark green hair, freckles. Plant like features.
Real Name: Unknown
Gender: Female.
Age: Unknown (19-ish in appearance)
Legend Type: Defensive
Clover, a defensive type legend is one with nature. She is a mutated human with the ability to grow plants with special properties at whim.
I have two ideas for her passives
Passive Idea#1: Geo-Tracking
Clover gains 15% Movement speed when moving toward downed allies, the “Great Flower” and enemies detected by “Meadows”.
Passive idea #2: Rooted
When Clover stays still for 6 seconds she turns into a plant gaining 800hp. When she resumes human form her health returns to 100hp so any damage taken to her health is healed. (This is good because nearby enemies will never hear her heal this way unlike using shield cells, syringes, etc. She has to stopping moving though and still needs shield cell to shield up.) Clover takes 50% increased damage from grenades and arc stars and 150% increased damage from thermite rounds when in plant-form.
Tactical- Meadows
Clover carpets a small area with fauna for 4mins destroying enemy traps that were set and gaining threat detect against enemies moving in the "Meadow" area. Allies within the Meadows replenish hp at a rate of 4hp per sec and move 15% faster even when knocked down. Enemy Arc Star and Grenades reduce the duration of Meadows by 30seconds, Thermite rounds reduce it’s duration by 50seconds. The threat detect lingers for 2 seconds after they have left the “Meadows" area. Only Clover can see enemies revealed by “Meadows".
Cast time: 2 seconds. Cooldown: 45 seconds. 10 meters long and wide.
Ultimate- Great Flower
Clover plants a seed that after 6 seconds of growth; blossoms into the “Great Flower” a massive plant that allows knocked allies to revive themself with full health but zero shields. All they have to do is crawl into the base of the flower and it will cocoon them. The Great Flower emits an acidic purple mist around it damaging nearby enemies for 9 damage a second (damaging shield then hp).
The Seed has 1250 hp, when it blossoms into the “Great Flower” it gains another 1250 hp for a total of 2500 hp and also regains hp while within the “Meadow” area at the same rate as allies (4hp per sec). Cooldown: 100 seconds. Mist radius: 4 meters. (Great Flower cannot be spawned in doorways or on stairs).
(Ordnances deal increased damage to the Great Flower especially thermite rounds)
Concept: Clovers plants allow recovery of her allies while warding off preying enemies.
(Legend no.5) Rocket
Real name: Riley Render
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Overview:
Rocket is a young, rash, fun-loving daredevil much like Octane and is also a keen inventor like Wattson. He loves inventing fun stuff like high-powered bikes and hoverboards and take them out for joyrides; and he is quite fond of his latest invention, a high powered jetpack. His dream, he hopes to one day build a Titan (like the ones in Titanfall) and pilot it himself but he lacks the funds and resources to do so. His dad was an ex Titan pilot who died in battle, upon receiving an invitation to the Apex Games he plans to gain the money he needs to bring his dreams to fruition and become a Titan pilot like his late father.
Appearance:
Brown skin, Angular face and pony-tailed dreadlocks. Black grease under eyes (like what footballers wear), welding goggles on forehead and an opened, red, burn-proof mechanic jacket.
Affiliations: None
Interactions:
Befriends Octane and Crypto
Flirts with Wattson and Loba
Despises Caustic and Revanent
Voice: Either African-American or African-British (Like the Phoenix character from Valorant)
Legend Type: Recon
Passive- Air Lift
Rocket can carry allies with his jetpack even if they are knocked down. By pressing down on the D-pad he pings himself and becomes mountable. (A self ping similar to when driving Trident vehicles)
Passive Perk: Fortified (His jetpack makes him a bigger target, his hitbox is somewhere between Mirage and Caustic size).
Tactical- Jet Boosters
Rocket launches into the air using his jetpack (up to a limited height) and levitates for a bit. Enemies near the launch blast take 20 Damage. This blast destroys doors and traps. Was thinking rather than a time cooldown, have it run on an overheating system much like the L-Star (since he flies rather slow anyways). If not a 3 second cooldown would be great.]
[Rocket can use weapons and consumables while using Jet Boosters]
Ultimate (Cooldown: 225 seconds)
Take Off!
Rocket activates stronger turbines in his jetpack that shoot him higher into the air as if using a jump tower then glides down as he would from a jumptower, allies can join him on the ride. (Cast Time 2.5 seconds. Re-press ultimate to activate take off or simply move to cancel ultimate).
(Legend no.6) Valor
Real Name: Gildon Armstrong
Gender: Male (Subject to Change)
Age: 40
Voice: Regal. Old English.
Legend Type: Defensive
Apearance: Valor is a tall and muscular man, he wears a navy blue, knight-like armor, with tiny red, black and yellow decals across it.
Passive- Armored Fists
Valor deals 20% more Melee damage. (It'll still take him an extra punch or two to knock out the other big Fortified Boys like Gibby and Caustic.)
Passive Perk- Fortified
Tactical- Gate Shield
Using his mecha gauntlet Valor deploys an impassable wall-shield before him with 700 health that consumes projectiles. The shield can be deactivated and redeployed elsewhere. Allies can temporarily deactivate the shield to pass through it. The shield is about the height of a door and the width of 2 doors standing side by side. Ordnance’s bounce off the shield. Cast time: 0.75 seconds. Cooldown: 30seconds.
Ultimate - Knight’s Herald
Valor throws out a mechanical lance that creates an electric field on impact, slowing and damaging targets per second for 5 seconds. The lance remains on the ground for 20 seconds after the end of the electrical field, You can pick up the lance by pressing the item interact button. Picking back up the lance reduces the cooldown by 90 seconds and replenishes 50 of Valor's shields, punching the lance restarts the electric field making it a great zoning tool, this effect can only occur twice after the initial cast.
Lance Impact Dmg: 30 Dmg
Electric Field dmg per second: 6 Dmg
Total Dmg: 60 Dmg
6.5 meter radius for electric field
Cooldown: 220 seconds
(Legend no.7) Mime
Real Name: Unknown
Gender: Unknown. Age: Unknown
Legend Type: Special
Appearance: White mask with a hypnotism swirl on it and wearing either a top-hat or horns.
Passive: CopyCat
Mime can Copy the Passive, Tactical and Ultimate abilities of his teammates. He can only copy one ally at a time, toggle between who he is Copying at will using the D- Pad. 9 second cooldown between swaps.
For example: If Mime is on Gibraltar and Lifeline’s team he can Copy Lifeline’s Passive and Tactical to heal and shield up faster then switch to copying Gibraltar and gain Gib’s Gun shield and ultimate to go into battle with (Mime's tactical would still be on cooldown due to using lifeline’s tactical.)
This legend would be really fun to use and would urge players to focus more on who their pairing him with even with random non premades. I was thinking of giving him a set cooldown regardless of the ability he uses (rather than him adopting that character’s cooldown) in order to keep him from being too strong but I’m not sure. This will also stop the problem of players fighting over who plays a favorite legend and leaving if they don’t get said legend as if my friend and I both wanna play Octane. I could go Mime and mimic his Octane.
Tactical- Trick 1 (See passive)
Ultimate- Trick 2 (See passive)
(Legend no.8) Aegis
Real Name: Valerie K. Goldheart aka Valk or Valky.
Gender: Female. Age: 26
Legend Type: Support
Overview:
Valerie is a prolific hiker. She loves traveling, hiking and camping across the worlds to never before seen places and carries everything she needs in an oversized backpack.
(please help with lore)
Passive:
Plan Body Shield (Plan B)
Aegis can carry an extra body shield in her bag slot that she can insta-drop by pressing down on the d-pad (Carrying shield-swap potential for her and her allies). This body armor must be 1 lvl lower than the one she is wearing and cannot be stronger than Lv2.
Passive Perk- Low Profile (Her hitbox however is similar to Loba. This will balance her otherwise strong kit.)
Tactical- Bulwark!
Grant yourself and 1 nearby ally a health buffer-shield worth 30hp for 12 seconds. Caustic gas and ‘The Ring’ eat at this hp shield as if it were the target’s natural health. (Prioritizes ally nearest to reticle or closest ally) If no ally is around she will cast it only on herself. Cooldown 40 seconds. Cast Range: 10 meters.
[This ability maybe too strong so I was thinking maybe reduce the shield duration to 8 seconds? Idk but it should be strong in certain instances when used right, not overpowered.]
Ultimate- Porting Device
Throw out a teleporting mechanism that creates an emp on landing, destroying nearby traps and dealing 25 damage to enemies who are struck by it. After landing, allies can use the device to teleport back to Aegis after channeling for 1.25 seconds. Enemies can use the device as well. The device has 100 hp. About the same throwing range as a grenade. The Porting Device can be pinged. Cooldown 200 seconds.
(Legend no.9) West
Gender: Male
Age: 34
Legend Type: Offensive
Homeworld: You decide
Voice: Gritty and baddass, like Clint Eastwood.
Overview:
Alloy West (or West Alloy, whichever you prefer) is a cyborg-cowboy legend. He has a robot arm and eye, wears a futuristic 10 gallon hat and carries a coiled cybernetic lasso on his waist. Was thinking maybe you could make him as some sort of bounty hunter who is after Octane and/or Mirage. I came up with this idea through analysis of their abilities as West’s abilities are about trapping and capturing his targets while theirs’ are about outrunning and eluding their enemies, respectfully.
Passive
This one I’m not sure what to give him. Was thinking maybe to give him faster reload/gun swapping when using pistols and smgs (Sleight of Hand) like Rampart's Lmg passive. Someone in my previous post suggested improved hip fire accuracy, and while that is very thematic (cowboys shooting from the waist) it seems a bit meh as a passive.
Tactical:
TNT/C4/ Satchel Bomb (Whatever you wanna call it).
West sticks a small explosive to the wall/ground (wherever you choose) that he manually detonates (press down on d-pad to detonate). He has two charges. Each blast deals 33 Dmg that falls off to 18 Dmg the further away you are from the explosive. Targets are briefly slowed when struck. The blast radius is a bit smaller than that of a grenade. When ever someone is near a bomb it notifies West with a slow beeping sound on his com-watch, the beeping sound speeds up the closer they are to the bomb. Enemies also hear a feint beeping noise.
Cooldown: 32 seconds per charge.
Ultimate: Cyber-Lasso
West throws out a cybernetic lasso that snares a single enemy for 3 seconds. The enemy is unable to move as well as use their weapons. West also cannot use weapons when using Cyber-Lasso as he uses both hands to cast it but he can move, though very slowly (about the speed of using consumables).
Cooldown: 120 seconds.
This ability is good for picking off targets and letting West’s allies pick up the kill but it requires great teamwork since West is slowed and unable to attack he is just as vulnerable to the enemy team.
West can also detonate c4s while holding an enemy in Cyber-Lasso. This has good synergy as a well aimed, well timed lasso will halt a target near 1 or 2 of West’s bombs allowing him to get an advantage if he were to be ever so skilled and lucky.
(Legend No.10) Hush
Real Name: Unknown
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Homeworld: You decide.
Voice: Dark and Cryptic (like Wraith)
Legend Type: Recon
Some Lore:
No idea.
Appearance: Cape and hood. Like someone from assasin’s creed but with dark colors.
Passive: Covert Specialist
Hush’s weapons receive a mild silencer attachment reducing the noise they make and the range enemies can hear them from.
Whenever Hush damages a target he adds a tracker to that target that lasts for 15 seconds after they have taken damage from him, tracked enemies appear on the minimap for Hush and his allies and can be seen through structures. Only 1 target can be tracked at a time.
Tactical: Cloak
Using both hands to cast, Hush goes invisible for 7 seconds and moves 15% faster. His weapon is holstered when he activates this ability (like wraith) His cloak is canceled if he attempts to use his weapons. (Cloak invisibility is like the oldschool Mirage invisibility, vaguely perceivable) Cooldown: 35 seconds.
I have two ideas for his ultimate:
Ultimate idea #1: Tag
Hush can activate his device to swap places with the ‘tracked’ enemy for 4.5 seconds, taking them as a hostage at his location, and allowing him to infiltrate the enemy team. Enemies taken hostage cannot move and cannot be damaged by Hush and his allies until the ability ends. When the ability ends Hush and the hostage return to their respectful locations when the swap occurred.
Ultimate idea #2: Sabotage
Hush can activate activate the tracker on the enemy to shock them dealing 25 Damage and prevents the target from using their weapons for 3 seconds. Hush’s weapon is holstered when he uses his ultimate and takes time to get back out.
(Legend no.1) Ricochet
Real name: Gunther Garfield
Gender: Male (Subject to change)
Age: 27
Legend Type: Offensive
Voice: Eh... A mix between wild and geeky (I guess)
Homeworld: You decide.
Passive: Comeback!
Ricochet Takes 50% Decreased damage when knocked down, he lasts 25% longer while bleeding out and his banner lasts 25% longer. Enemies who finish Ricochet only replenish half of their total shields.
In mobas and other types of team strategy games you will often find characters who plague a fight with grievances after they have died. This needs to be an in-game mechanic in a healthy form and reducing the amount of shields the enemies get from finishing Ricochet is a strong but not overpowered mechanic.
Tactical- Roter-Rang
Ricochet sends out a High-tech boomerang (like a frisbee) that deals damage and bounces to nearby enemies; notifying Ricochet and his allies on each bounce with an enemy icon. Max 3 Bounces after initial hit) Dealing 20 Dmg on initial target and 15 dmg on bounces. If the “Roter-Rang does not find a target or it knocks/kills an enemy it will go on a 7 second cooldown. (Cooldown: 20 secs) Range: 12 meters. Bounce radius: 8 meters. Cast time: 0.75 seconds.
Ultimate- Mega Roter-Rang
Sends out a bigger Roter-Rang that deals 30 Damage to all enemies it passes through. This Roter-Rang does not bounce but returns to Ricochet after reaching max distance; dealing that dmg again to enemies it passes through. The Mega version of Roter-Rang briefly slows enemies and disrupts thier shields (prohibiting them from shield-swapping and using shield cells or batteries) for 10 seconds after being hit. Cooldown: 180: seconds. Cast time: 1.5 seconds.
Appearance: Cyber-suit (Like a character from Tron). Carries Roter-Rangs on forearms. Carries Mega Roter-Rang on back. Roter-Rangs look like metallic, retractable, neon frisbees.
I like the ideas for blackbird and rockets ultimate and I think there should be some sort of flying ability. I like the concept for hush too just because he seems mystic and I prefer the ultimate idea that involves the enemy slowing down and holstering their weapons. The other ult would just be a suicide mission. Well done on coming up with 11 legend concepts! Maybe you should release them 3 at a time because it gets a bit tiring reading 11 big ideas from the same post. I you can can you check out my 'New Hop-Up Ideas' cuze I like the idea for some of them.
