Am I a bad teammate for this?

I used Valk and have been playing ranked. Whenever we get into a firefight and get pushed back or third parties I ping the closest cover, activate my ult, and ping myself. Usually, one teammate gets the hint and connects, the other teammate continues to try and take on two teams or doesn’t want to fly. I usually take off without them and they die. Should I not do that anymore or should I try to survive? I get a ton of hate messages for my play style. I’d like feedback so I can be a better player.

  • By the way you've phrased it, no you are not a bad teammate.

It sounds like your teammate hasn't got an audio device, one of you has issues with authority in pub groups, OR either you or they are terrible risk assesors.

  • @HeyNameDoesntFi Without more context, I would say you're not a bad teammate. It's a two way street, I suppose. You shouldn't have left them behind, but they shouldn't have ignored their team and attempted the 1v3. I'd call it a wash, and move on to the next match
  • @HeyNameDoesntFi you know if you shoot at the enemy from multiple directions you stand a better chance of winning?

looking at the enemy if you have a bunch of grenades fly to flank them where theyre exposed lob a bunch of grenades at them and scatter them it will help your team more than you running away.
  • Well they've either ignored you or they can't get loose to join your ult. Either way needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Unless you're playing pubs then go out in a blaze of bullets death and glory my dude, there's literally nothing to lose lol.

I mean I experience the same kind of thing with Loba’s BlackMarket, I put it up for team mates to use and when they are done I the shop down.

Sometimes I have to close the shop down faster if we are rotating or being pushed by another squad, and I don’t want to give free loot to the enemy…

This results in some slower random teammates not having enough time to “shop” or one teammate is far away from me and the shop at the time and they get mad that I closed it…

Usually if im playing with friends they know that if they are the last ones to use the shop they destroy it when done.

So I feel you pain, if you are constantly pinging for them to link up to your ULT then I think thats on them for not disengaging in the firefight.

@dSKyNafinchin Nah screw ‘em! If they don’t want to hug me tight, they can die and star in a soap on how they died!

@HeyNameDoesntFi Like others said, without more context or gameplay or know all circumstances it’s impossible to evaluate. For instance I’ve had that I couldn’t hear the first callout of Valk saying that she’s ready to lift off. Most valks I’ve played with don’t ping tho and just activate (luckily not during a firefight) so I could still see that they want to leave.

With Apex’ beautiful audio cues it might be hard to actually hear the callout and if I only see a ping initially while I’m fighting ppl I would obv think “I’m not going there, I’ll die before going there. Why do you want to go there?!”. As a valk in my team and my semi-logical thinking I’d obv think “ahhh this valk wants to go”, but others might not think that or would rather go for shooting and hopefully winning instead of being strategic.

I’ve done the same as you as ppl on this forum can attest to. Usually I wait and ping multiple times if I see winning a fight is unfeasible and if the other person (usually a random) doesn’t come when I can clearly see that they can make it, I leave them. I even call out that I’m using my ult beforehand and while waiting so they basically have no excuse to not at least look over at me unless they’re so deep in their firefight or in thought that they don’t pay attention. If that’s the case tho, that person is already lost. If you can’t focus on multiple things at the same time in this game, you’re not going to do well.

@Koochi-Q I would imagine a teammate like that, would be overly dramatic like Calculon lmao!! I'm kinda with you though. Even when I'm playing with my two buddies, if one of us is Valk, it's just understood that if you don't connect when we dippin.. sucks to suck haha
