Just curious. A lot of posts I see where people struggle playing with randoms seem to stem from the randoms not going the same way, or making decisions you don't agree with. When I play solo queuing, I typically follow my teammates around. Rather than try and assume leadership, I choose to defer to others and avoid the problem. If I'm jump master I will ping an area, but will jump on suggestion if one is made. If I see a TTV, or a high ranking player on my squad I'll generally fall in behind them. It's funny though, because aside from the jump master at launch, the hierarchy of a random team is never established. I find it so amusing when I'll drop with a random squad and everybody breaks off to go their own way, if I'm able to get a couple kills or wipe the first squad we come across, I'll notice the random teammates will fall in on me at that point. So yeah, what do you do? Do you defer to the jumpmaster? Do you play solo, and hope your squad follows? Do you do like I do and defer leadership to avoid issues? Also, do you think that random squad cohesiveness could be improved by further defining a squad leader? Maybe something like the jumpmaster could launch with a white body armor and a p2020, giving the other squad members a little incentive to stick closer for protection? Discuss.

I'm not good enough to lead--I'll just get us all killed. So I try to be a good squad mate follower.But I was doing the Path zipline challenge, just launch one and everyone goes!You don't have to do much to lead, only act like you know what you're doing. 🥳

I enjoy following but will criticizes every mistake you make until we die. If however I get to lead, I tend to lead in a laid back, observant type, making very thought out strats on how to approach a team. Most of the time I spend fighting with myself on which plan is best, aggressive? or bait? Considering how my teammates can range from good to monkeys, its hard sometimes to lead. My best plans come from holding out a small area and guarding one area myself while my teammates guard another, and than we just hide until one separates and boom, turn that baby into a 2v3 😎

If they ping right away I’ll neglect my hot drop thought and go where they want. Vice versa too. If they’re JM and ping a place thats not directly below us or anything, I’ll follow. If they drop without pinging or go straight down I either leave the match right away or dont go where the JM is going.Ground fase: depending on banner I make decision to stick close or at a distance. If they have high stats, I tend to keep my distance cause I expect them to know what they’re doing. Lower levels I tend to close the gap in distance but dont get too close before that person does something weird.Mostly when I squad wipe or if I have my main, ppl follow me, so it’s all good ;D

@blkarmphoenixIt depends on a few things.. if they screw up the drop, i’m going to go off solo. I won’t land late, get no gun and get slaughtered. I stay close enough to grab banners and/or meet up with them.

If the drop is good. It depends on their game play. If I’m carrying them, I’m going to take the lead. If they are holding their own I’ll follow. I generally try to stick with the squad and I’m flexible about game play and really try to stick with the squad.

Answer: You are both a follower and a leader in my experience. Just depends on who you play with.
In both cases, I'll ping a location to go and have no one follow me so I'll have to run back to regroup, or someone will ping a location and we go there. In both scenarios I will die by myself 1v3, despite my teammates being in adjacent buildings / in close proximity to me.
