- E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+@NaRnIaaa If you have actually been playing from day 1 then you would know exactly how easy this is to level. 3 hours a day is nothing for most players. Even if being 30 mins here and there each day up to 3 hours.
The comparison of a job is odd. You are not working. You are sitting on your butt playing a game completing the battle pass without even trying. Everyone does this very thing. I know only few people who actually focus on challenges to actually level the pass.
The challenges come and go as you play. Get 5 knocks with crypto example. Someone took your main you didn't notice you got put on crypto. You have completed crypto challenge without even knowing its there if have not looked. This is how most of us complete the pass quickly. We just play and just so happens at times we don't get our main we complete a challenge on someone not our main. They are crazy easy to finish. lol @E9ine_ACdo you have fun playing (for hours) a character that you don't like? and 3h isn't nothing, especially everyday
- E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+@NaRnIaaa Nope its why i play Wraith for every single game and have finished it last week. Not sure where the argument is. =P
- @NaRnIaaa You dont need to play 3 hours daily to finish this. There are people on here who are almost done who dont do that. You are literally the only one still complaining about the pass.
@pastaclown
For what it's worth, I agree with both you and @NaRnIaaa
As I've said before, it's not about difficulty, it's about what feels fun for me and what doesn't. Personally, I was enjoying myself much more in the old system, as I felt every match (even a bad one) contributed more to my BP than now, because that system was more focused on XP.
With this system, every time I have a match and I don't get something done for a challenge, I just feel like I'm wasting my time. Yeah, there is still XP in this system, But if you're not completing challenges, that's 50k XP for every level. So, it just doesn't feel great to me.
And, also, as I've said before, I'm pretty sure that I'm currently a higher BP level than I was at this point in time, in previous seasons, but that probably has a lot to do with the 10-free battle pass levels and that double XP week we had. Without those things, I'm not 100% sure where I would be. And since we probably won't be having those in season 8, If we keep this current system as is, I don't think I'm going to be too thrilled to play Apex.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.- @JonStriker126 If you play a game and dont get something done for a challenge you feel like it is a waste of time? This seems so wrong to me. I understand people like to work on objectives and such but isnt just playing the game enough for enjoyment? If it isnt I would find another game or hobby myself.
@hayhor people with limited time to play / people who are working on multiple BPs outside of Apex will almost certainly grind OBJs first then play for fun later. Moreso now since you need to grind out the OBJs in order to complete pass in a reasonable amount of time, whereas old system with the scaling levels 5 hours worth of play (not in one sitting obviously) through time alone would get you 3 BP levels, whereas the new system gets you only one.
Plus if you've grown disenchanted with playing through crappy hit-reg / audio / SBMM / net-code / server stability / quality of teammate like I have, playing the game is no longer fun, it's more of a chore. The BP changes were just a cheap gimmick to try and bolster / manipulate player retention data by forcing players to spend the same if not more time playing, just spread out over the course of the week.
Think of it in terms of line-plots. Big spikes in player retention doesn't look good to investors / shareholders, it means your consumer-base is unstable, they're not interested / entertained enough to keep consistently playing. New BP changes fix that by ironing out big spikes into a flatter more consistent plot, giving the illusion that things are going well.
@hayhor
Well, I mean "waste of time" as far as the BP is concerned. And with a challenge heavy system, what I said isn't exactly incorrect. With each Star needing 5K XP and each BP level needing 50K XP, without challenges, it definitely would take longer to finish the BP without them than it would with them. Basically, the more challenges you are unable (or unwilling) to do, the bigger grind you make for yourself.
And, the more often that happens, the easier it is for your time to feel like a waste, or at least feel like it's getting much less "value" than it could be.
And, yes, I know, it's a game. And the goal is to have fun, but I would also like the things I'm paying for* to be obtained in a reasonable amount of time for reasonable amount of effort. But, with this system, the more challenges you don't do, the more and more time you have to put into just playing/getting XP, which (at least for me) can turn my time with Apex more into a chore than fun. And, this wasn't really something I felt in the old system, as I've said in other posts, hence my issue with the current system..
*Also, yes, I said the pass I paid for. Now, I know some people reading that will say "Well, you technically only pay for the first pass, every pass beyond that is free, due to the coins you get". And, to that I say: you're right... Provided you decide to never purchase anything else in the game, ever. But, if you buying anything more than that pass, you will have to stick more money into the game. And, I can't speak for anyone else, but I definitely spend more than those extra 50 coins you get with the premium BP, each season. So, usually by the time the next battle pass rolls around, I need to buy more coins to get it, because I bought other stuff in the game.- E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+
@pastaclownThe game devs didn't choose for players to work on other game's battle passes. Nor should it be a concern to them. Giving this game at hand it self and its leveling system it is 100% obtainable with ease. The game should not cater to other game's battle passes.
Other games battle passes mean nothing to this game's time frame of leveling this games battle pass it's on the player to make a choice of which they want to be leveled.
Definition of BP: "In the video game industry, a battle pass is a type of monetization approach that provides additional content for a game usually through a tiered system, rewarding the player with in-game items for playing the game and completing specific challenges.". You don't want to complete challenges to get the rewards? Then you don't want a battle pass, but rather a daily login bonus system, which typically rewards players for being active (checking in the game daily, playing the game a few rounds).
A lot of Season 7 challenges are stupid easy, not even deserving the term "challenge". "Play 2 games", really? How can that be challenging? This is the actual problem of the current battle pass, it's absolutely dumbed down boring! Every set of dailies can be done in like 1.5 hours tops (best case scenario a single match !) and if there's anything you don't like, you can reshuffle with legend tokens. If you go after challenges, you can easily get 5-7/8 in the first day of the week, which is very bad for the rest of the days, as you're left with no boosts for the XP grind other than the recurring dailies and therefore not encouraged to play some more after you've done those.
I honestly hope Respawn will do a much more challenging and interesting battle pass for upcoming seasons, split into more tiers. It can be something like:
1.Free: Fewer & less rare rewards , with specific challenges that are easy to complete.
2.Basic Premium : the current version, with a little bit fewer rewards, but also easier challenges, for the same 10$
3.Grinder / Collector Premium: additional challenges and additional rewards (mostly legendary current bp skin recolors), for 20$
4.Master Premium: some extra difficult daily challenges tailored for high skill players, maybe even some challenges that have an expiration time which you can start by pressing a "start challenge" button. This could award some prestigious badges and legendary bundles (skins + banners + weapons + charms) every 25 levels or so and, in the end, some heirloom shards. The cost of this bp could be set at 25-30$ or more.
Besides all the above tiers, there could be an option to acquire higher tier challenges with legend tokens, crafting metals or apex coins, depending on which tier they belong to. On completion, that additional challenge would reward the player depending on the currency used, tier and difficulty category, from 1 star up to 2-3 BP levels.
