- @Daze623 Depends how frequently they spam the buttons too. Short strafes are faster, while long strafes are slower. Perhaps that's what you are referring to.
@Daze623 a lot of people have already stated this but:
1. Different weapons have different ADS movespeeds, so an LMG isn't going to strafe as fast as an SMG.
2. Small hitbox legends benefit the most from strafing with the same level of input. Also some legends benefit more from wiggling left and right rather than moving cause their center of mass will change and throw off your aim a little bit.
3. Sometimes they're not actually ADS strafing, they're just hip-firing you, so they're under no ADS movespeed penalty at all. Octane really benefits from this.
- @BaldWraithSimp What do you mean by short strafe and long strafe?
- @pastaclown what do you mean by "small hitbox legends benefit most from strafing"? are you referring to being harder to hit or something else?
- @Daze623 Short straves are those where you tap left or right when you inputted the other control. So as soon as you went left, you press right... basically you ‘confuse’ the enemy thinking you still go left.
Long straves are for example you hold the left strafe for one or 2 seconds before going right and doing the same.
Something that I have not seen is moving diagonally. Strafing left to right is kind of rigid. Attempting to also bring some forward/backward movement in the mix makes it even more unpredictable to determine the pattern. - @Koochi-Q so do you just guess when to short/long strafe or are there specific times/champions that is better at short or long strafe?
@Daze623 in general, being harder to hit yes. As for timing with long or short strafes, there's no "guide" to what's best, it's all just about trying to confuse your enemy and get them to miss shots. Moving unpredictably is going to save your bacon more often than trying to learn whether X character should long or short strafe. Even on big characters like Gibby or Caustic, moving unpredictably will save your life, and there's nothing better than playing those characters and killing players who've underestimated you just because you're playing those characters. I've even stopped moving entirely between strafes and that's thrown off people's aim. Spamming crouch works too.
That's why a lot of the pro players main Wraith, once you figure out how to naturally move unpredictably, spamming crouch and whatnot, you're going to survive a lot more fights than some dork who only knows how to go left and right. Couple that with the fact that Wraith's animations naturally make her smaller than everyone else, you've got a recipe for pretty easy wins.
- @DarthValtrex No i understand all tbat but never do i see any legend strafe with equivalent of sprint speed teleporting side to side with no slowdown like wraiths do.
Character needs fixinf/nerfing whatever. Cause it is very bs - DarthValtrex5 years agoHero (Retired)
@pastaclownThey key with everything is unpredictable. How ever you don’t want to be moving so much that it makes you miss shots.
I have seen players have great movement and make the enemy miss a ton of shots. But they still ultimately Die because their movement is costing them all of their accuracy.even when you’re running from enemies. Getting out of sight and hiding in an unpredictable place is the key, unless they have a BH. Then you won’t get away.
- @Daze623 It’s your own flow. You decide that in the heat of the moment. If you see that the enemy is missing most of their shots when you do irregular, unpredictable short strafes coupled with ducking for instance, then you know if you can line up your shots properly, that you got ‘em on the ropes.
If you see that enemy hits you while you do long strafes, you know (s)he already knows your pattern and to switch it up if you have the chance. Long strafes aren’t meant to confuse but more to just get away from a middle point and to either duck, run away or to start short strafing.
But as Darth says, non of that matters if you can’t strafe and line up your own shots.
