@hayhor I think in a game where the developers have stated the gameplay itself is 80% gunplay and 20% abilities, they're really trying to make sure that 20% feels good to play as and against, but I don't think it's working too well.
1. There's a lot more varied legend usage across the board, but it's most likely because the alternatives are worse. Caustic over Wattson is a no-brainer, simply because Caustic's ability to lock down areas and buildings comes up faster, can be used in combat with relative ease, and affects a much larger area than Wattson's pylons. Wattson's pylons glow and immediately alert the enemy to its presence, while Caustic's Gas Traps can be hidden around corners or in areas people might not expect ensuring that eventually a fly will get caught in the spider's web. Plus, Caustic has pretty much gotten nothing but buffs whereas Wattson has remained the same for a few seasons now.
It's a strange place to be in, because when it comes to buffs / nerfs, the casuals think that Respawn is catering to the pros, and the pros think that Respawn is catering to the casuals. Yet somehow the people who put in 5 hours of play a week (5/168 hours) think that their voice is more important than the people who put in 56 hours a week. But the 56 hour a week people think that their voice is more important than the majority. So then do you listen to the extremely capable few over the majority, or do you listen to people who think getting gored after 15 minutes of looting is an enjoyable experience? It's a lose / lose situation, and it's not really Respawn's fault. This tweet really sums up the whole, "Casual vs. Pro" situation: https://twitter.com/FaZeSway/status/1357372306688004096
On the flip-side, you look at Lifeline and nobody is happy with the changes. No one won with their dog-crap Lifeline "rework".
2. Some parts that were dumbed down were welcome changes. That nonsense where you could scale up the infamous Fragment West building by hopping on and off it repeatedly, preventing people from actually hitting you while you go up was a welcome change. The double zipline thing where you could hop back and forth? A welcome change. The change where after 3 hops you're unable to get back onto your zipline? Not so much. It just makes a lot of ziplines unwelcome death-traps. Random recoil really dumbs this game down too IMO.
3. More balanced, but at what cost?
5. You get better competition sure, but then the game will matchmake you with 2 level 60 newbies vs. a 3 time Predator Wraith. Sure I want to fight the Predator and try my best, but are you going to give me a fair fight by giving me similarly skilled teammates, or are you going to tell me to go skydiving without a parachute?

@hayhor I have no understanding of what that person does, I just liked the point they made. Saw it on Reddit, just looked for the Twitter rather than the Reddit post.
What's wrong with Fortknife? I think it's pretty default dance.
- hayhor5 years agoHero@pastaclown I'm fairly certain since the beginning of gaming people have been complaining about others being better. People are always jealous in life, no matter what it is. So I disagree with the tweet. Not everyone would have sent a friend request. This isnt a this generation thing in my eyes.
- 5 years ago@hayhor He wrote all that and you complain the link kid plays fortnite? 🤣
