They most definitely want to push for as many casual players as they can, because that's where the money is at. More people playing the game = more people spending their money in the game. You don't make money from a tiny hardcore players who are super competitive.
I don't see this a bad thing, as I am myself a casual player, so anything that makes the game more accessible and enjoyably for myself and most of my friends, is a good thing. And even that said, this game has plenty of depth and layers to mechanics that if you are competitive and hardcore, you can always keep learning and improving with new combinations of weapons and legends.

@Vladplaya I understand your point and agree with it for the most part, but it’s the hardcore players that keep garnering the attention for the game. Without them, the casuals would either not know of this game or wouldn’t try and get that good or get that nice looking skin.
Casuals play casually which can make they play 2-10 games at any given time a week. If they have no one to look up to, I don’t think they would heavily invest into a game and just move on to the next.
So if Respawn catere too much to new players, the oldies will leave. Look at Modern Warfare. Alot of ‘oldies’ from the originals were eager to play it until they saw that they wanted to make the game newb friendly. Even tho they like the game they stopped playing it or became very vocal and luckily Infinity Ward listened.
It doesn’t matter how much depth Apex has. If only new ppl play it even the noob/newbstompers will get tired of eradicating those players and move on.
