Also if they don't want to implement an abandon penalty in pubs they could just give those leavers/quitters the "low priority queue" treatment where they'll be teamed up with other quitters/leavers so when they do manage to clutch they'll know our pain. >🙂 Okay, so let me put out 3 easy scenarios.
Scenario 1.: You play a random game of public, casual trios. You to happen to get into a fight. You and another team mate go down. Now you realize your last team mate is far away and ran into the opposite direction. Now you have to wait for your banners to run out to be able to safely leave the match without the penalty, because this would be effectively the end.
Scenario 2.: You play with randoms in casual trios. Again, you get into a fight. Third person doesn't go down and manages to kill the opponent team. He picks up your banners, but thinks he would be really cool to not revive you, and just carries your banners around. Now you have to stick around till he dies. Waste of time, and you would - once again - be the one punished for the stupidity of someone else.
Scenario 3.: You share a squad with a really annoying kid who has literally no clue what to do and keeps screaming at you for not instantly reviving him. He lands no shots, he just keeps running around for no reason. Now your squad goes down except him. Do you really wanna continue playing on his side?
These abandon penalties for casual matches are straight up prime trolling material, and will 9 out of 10 times punish the one's who are supposed to benefit from that.
- @Peri_Longbow_plz Scenario 1: That's pretty much how the game is supposed to go. There's a reason why they added banners and banner timer.
Scenario 2: Just like in ranked you can leave after a certain amount of time(2 min 30 secs).
Scenario 3: You mute the player and play the game normally.
Trolls will troll regardless of what happens. But be honest with me how many times do you get a troll in this game and how many times do you get a clown that charges ahead gets killed and immediately leaves or get into a fight with another squad>one of your teammate goes down and immediately quits while you're still fighting the squad. - @Daze623 There are certain rounds in which you can simply see that there is no point in staying in the match. Specifically those in which your team acts dumb in an obvious way. And I don't want to be forced to stick around in an already unrewarding match, which I by the way already chose because I don't want to fight over a visual badge to show how much time I invest in the game. It's a casual game, after all.
Or just introduce a middle-ground between casual and ranked. "Regulated matches" with the same rules as ranked, but no ranks given. That way you don't have the pressure of a badge on you, while still benefiting from ranked mechanics. - @Peri_Longbow_plz I like that you're dodging my question. If your team is "acting dumb" your team would be wiped out anyway so might as well wait for the proper ending instead of just prematurely leaving. There wouldn't be a need for middle ground if people actually played the game properly and to it's entirety.
- @Daze623 Sorry if I'm in some way not empowered in the ability to speak your language, but a question usually involves a question mark. Everything else is not a question to me. 🙂
But... Actually, you know what? Respawn should add this. They should actually - for once - add everything the community asks for. I think that would not just solve the assumption that they don't listen to the community, but I think that would make the community very happy if they bend to every wish.
So here is my personal idea for a leaving penalty: Every time you leave a game prematurely, regardless of whether you know the outcome or not, you will have to wait 10 minutes !actively! in the main menu. So quitting the game and being tabbed out will not make the timer progress.
I think this will encourage people to take the game seriously. @Peri_Longbow_plz Plus a little message screen should pop up if your team won the match informing you of this information. 😛
- @Peri_Longbow_plz hey whatever floats your boat.
- @Peri_Longbow_plz Yes wait for your banner time out. The game has Respawn beacons for a reason.
You realize that in ranked you can leave after 150 sec of banner pick up? Same system in pubs, just less time like 60 sec.
Besides the scenario you are describing happens very few times. I haven't ever come across teammate not rezing me in pubs in my 15k lifetime games.
At the end you come off as someone who leaves a lot. People who don't leave like me won't be ever affected. We wait for banner pick up and Respawn in pubs too. This system will punish people who leave a lot 10 out of 10 times. - @Peri_Longbow_plz Yes, there are certain rounds where there is no point in staying. But those scenarios are 1 out of 100. This won't affect you in any major way if you don't leave. If you leave consistently, this system will be a problem for you.
At the least, limit people from leaving in knocked state.
