@BaldWraithSimp TTK has changed drastically since season 2, it was much lower than it is today - not sure if you really understand TTK so I´ll try to widen your horizon - when weapons are stronger, TTK is lower, hence when they nerfed alot - the TTK went higher.
If we compare the TTK from Apex season 1 - 2 with current, the TTK is much higher. And TTK is a subject of debate even within respawn - it will change, as it always have - it will never be constant.
So perhaps you need to keep to your own advice, if you did not like the TTK Apex had in its original form (from season 1-2) play something else instead of always crying about nerf this or nerf that.
@NitromethaneAPCan you educate me on what changed from early seasons to now to raise the TTK?
Yes I know evo shields were introduced but there have always been multiple shield levels. Now tho the shields dont depend on luck. Fighting levels them up.
Is there anything else? I'm not looking for generalized gun nerfs either. I want examples. Because I can give you guns like the TT and sentinel that had buffs to make them stronger.- @NitromethaneAP Absolutely correct. I haven't kept up with this thread. So as I was just reading page one, my thoughts kept going back to Season 2. In Season 2, there were so many options that were powerful and effective that it didn't matter what you picked up:
- Peacekeeper with or without choke
- Triple Take with choke
- Devotion and Havok with Turbocharger
- R-301
- Alternator with hop-up (cant remember the name)
- Spitfire
- Prowler with select fire
- R-99
- care package weapons (Mastiff and Kraber)
In Season 2, it didn't matter where I landed. I was going to get a highly effective option. In fact, there were very few bad options that I would just pass up. The variety was outstanding and allowed me to simply enjoy the game without worrying about specific combos and effectiveness.
TLDR - nerfing one gun is not the answer. We need a variety of weapons brought up to it's power level. - @NitromethaneAP Seems like TTK didn't change that much or atleast that's according to the TTK spreadsheets I found but then again they could be wrong.
Part of the issue imo is this constant rotation of weapons in and out of the care package. Mastiff should have stayed in the care package where it was highly powerful. LSTAR should have also stayed in the care package. They had to nerf them just to bring them out into the loot pool in the first place. I'm not sure they ever found a balance with them. Meanwhile, they replaced them with viable options like Devotion and Peacekeeper.
Clip size decreased, adding more recoil, decreasing bullet damage / headshot damage etc. You could straight up lazer an entire team with one clip with R99, or r301 - or wingman.
You also had a lot more weapons being viable, the devotion with turbo charger could kill 4-5 people with one purple mag (vs purple armor).
With the little recoil + clip sizes you usualy downed two people with one clip, that changed to now almost downing someone but having to swap weapons to finish that one guy (if they have good movement).
Also, Season 2 was before sniper rifles go their own ammo type. I never liked this change at all. It restricts options which has essentially shelved sniper rifles for me. Before this change, you could swap between AR and sniper without messing with your ammo inventory:
- G7 for light ammo
- Longbow for heavy ammo
- Triple Take for energy ammo
It's a very underrated thing people don't often talk about, but the ability to on the fly swap to a DMR without worrying about changing ammo types was HUGE. The flexibility that allowed in combat and different situations can't be understated. It also helped tremendously with the subject of weapon power and having viable options on hand.
Ah yeas, lets by all means bring back the old PK that could one shot everyone.
The low TTK is only advantage to people who can't hit more than 5 shots in a row, to be able to land more actually shows that you have at least decent aim.
Also reaction time is nullified completely if TTK is low and you get 1-2 shotted by enemy that made 0 sounds in game that somehow makes it that you hear people shooting 500m away from you, but can't hear wraith ripping a humongous fart in your face while they empty their gun at the same time.
The current TTK is alright, imagine this situation where enemies can never hear that you are coming and would be melted in 0.2s
In the end it doesn’t matter the gun got changed.
But I predict the regular parade of whining will never end, nor the excuses for whining. The Wingman, the peacekeeper the Mastiff. As someone mentioned already, fists will become a problem, wait they already are. We’ve heard already how fists are just so deadly and shouldn’t knock you back. Fists are OP.
It’s really excuse making for bad play and if guns do one point of damage each, somehow it will be OP. You’ll know because within 2 weeks the crying will begin over a new weapon nobody happens to be complaining about right now. That will be the longest time it takes for people to want to stop being responsible for getting themselves shot in a gun game.
- @KarvaRausku You're missing the point. The PK was but one of a variety of options that could beam you in Season 2. I don't recall it being considered OP back then either. It was just one of a crowd. Devotion and Alternator were generally the ones that got a complaint if any. But that's not even touching R-99, R-301, Havok with Turbocharger, Prowler with select fire, etc. A wide range of strong options will balance things out on it's own.
So many good memories of Season 2...still the best season imo.
