In anticipation of S15, I decided to conduct another matchmaking test. This time, I intentionally threw a multitude of public matches over the course of two days.I completed a total of 150 consecutive games with under 50 damage (intentionally). All of these games comprised me being fully downed and eliminated by opponents. I completed this test on my main account, on which I currently have 34k games played— this is the account I achieved Masters in and its typically the absolute least forgiving (regarding matchmaking); I am typically only playing against High Diamond and up in pubs. After losing 150 consecutive matches, there were no dive trails in my lobby and my teammates and opponents were typically between level 300 and 500, with no teammates or champion squads sporting 4K 20 bomb badges (this pattern started between games 70-80).So what happens tomorrow when I load up the new season? Will my lobby still hover around the same skill level or will I be thrust back into high MMR lobbies?

At the same time my secondary drops into lobbies with mostly Masters and Preds because my MMR is high on that account. In this scenario, we can assume no reset happened.Scenario 2) My main drops into lobbies with mostly Masters and Preds. Likewise, my secondary drops into similar lobbies. This would suggest some sort of reset/re-assignment of MMR based off the new season.Scenario 3) Both accounts experience even’ish lobbies. With some Diamond but not a multitude of Masters or Preds (because they don’t comprise more than 5% of the playerbase. This scenario would be hard to discern an effect on (which is what you are saying), because it might be a product of the player population drastically rising.So let’s see the outcomes.

@AcidicSoda44031 I hear you.My recommendation is that you intentionally lose a multitude of matches. This sucks, but at least it’s a guaranteed method for getting more manageable lobbies.Of course, once you have a decent match you will be thrust up the matchmaking ladder— THIS is the issue.The issue is that traversing the matchmaking doesn’t have equal mobility in either direction. Winning one game shoots you up, but losing one game isn’t enough to send you down.So for every decent game you have, you’ll have to intentionally follow that with a string of bad games. Lower data accounts have to lose about 5-10 consecutive matches. Higher data accounts have to lose between 20-30 matches.

My bud is attempting a different strat. He no filled and threw about 19 games this morning. He had a lot of fun griefing by picking out someone off drop that separated from their team, knocking them, and then letting their team kill him. This resulted in us actually getting several "normal" feeling games (not bot lobbies, just normal mid) until we won one and ended up back with the usual try hard masters three stacks playing double scan in pubs.

@pandareno1999 the fact that people need to do this to get into normal lobbies is ridiculous. We should not have to do this, ever.

@Axs5626Sxa5001 Some believe the start of the season there is a soft reset. I do not believe this to be the case. I believe a lot of lesser players come back to try things out, get smacked in the face with their lack of skill and leave better players. By end of season it's only sweats and new players left.

@hayhorWhich is exactly why I have an additional account that I finished today on a win, with a plus 6KD for the season on.

Both of these accounts should sport totally different lobbies tomorrow after the update. But if they yield similar lobbies, that would suggest some sort of soft reset for players. I shall update this thread tomorrow.

@Axs5626Sxa5001 I appreciate this sort of test, I personally believe that it takes your stats from your previous seasons, not your recent games when a season resets. I am very interested in the results of this.

@Axs5626Sxa5001My point is this- How do you know if it is a soft reset or the MM just did a better job due to a larger more diverse player count?
I know for me personally the first few days of the season I struggle due to how sweaty the lobbies are. Then things even out and it gets harder again end of season. Are the first few days a soft reset for me?

Hayhor has a point. Pretty certain that as of this morning the player count will be considerably higher than it has been for the last 2 and a half months. I personally find the MM at the start of new seasons to be pretty tough on me. Every top player that hasn't been playing for a while comes back to check out the new season, legend, weapons, map etc.
I have done some similar testing out of curiosity, however I only throw 5 straight matches. This is not even hitting the ground and waiting to be shot and killed. I can back out when in the drop ship, or just back out the minute I hit the ground or even in the selection screen after my legend has been picked. Me and a few friends seen the same results.... 5 seems to be the magic number to us.
After 5 throws, the lobby is always easier and the champion is low level low kills. I don't know why, but IMO I suspect the algorithm is fooled lol.
Anyone else ever try some testing of any kind they wanna share?

Findings:
My main account dropped into lobbies that were pretty similar to the lobbies I was dropping into before the season started. No one in the lobby had dive trails.
On my secondary (with a high MMR), my first two games gave me at least one Masters teammate. the lobby was comprised completely of Diamond and Master trails.
I think it’s fair to say there was no reset. I will post images to show teammates.
