Dolby Atmos or windows sonic?

For Xbox players, I always complain about footsteps in this game but then I got thinking, I use Dolby Atmos, maybe that is the issue? Is sonic better for Apex? Who has done a head to head comparison?

  • @aisthebestletter As a sound techy guy I can say they’re almost the same. If a game doesn’t have the codec for Atmos in the game, there’s almost no difference except for 1 big one.

I’ve tried both settings & Sonic always sound harder. The oomph is much more audible without overstimulating the high/mid tone range. I’m not talking about the bass oomph tho. It’s hard to explain but easiest way is just to say that Sonic has harder sounding audio without you having to up the volume button, but because of that, it feels like stuff is happening closer to you than you think (unless you get used to it).

Hopefully this helps. It’ll also depend on the headset/phones or earphones of course.

@aisthebestletter hearing no footsteps is problem with game , i m a PC player and there are many complains about not hearing footsteps of enemy players.
i use windows sonic its free and work ok for me.
  • The root cause of your issues is the game.

I've tried different headsets and sound settings and the issues  are still prevalent.

Basically just gotta sit and pray they fix it one day. 😛

  • I used both and I prefer Window sonic over Dolby Atmos.

But I'm not sure if it's linked to the footstep issue.
