Elite Controller Bumper

One of my close friends and longtime gaming buddies, gifted me an Elite 2.0 controller when my series 1 was getting really bad stick drift. I had the controller for less than 6 months, and then my RB got to be somewhat finicky. It still worked, but wouldn't register a good 25% of the time. Well, last night I hopped on, and it has now gotten to the point where it rarely registers input and I have to press the bumper at a really weird (and inconvenient) angle, in order to get it to register. In some games, it doesn't effect me one bit. In Apex though, I am a huge fan of the ping system, which has now been rendered mostly useless to me, which I friggin HATE.

This current controller is actually the warranty replacement for the first one that I sent in with the same exact issue, which is now having the same issue within 6 months or replacement. Has anyone else had this issue with Elite 2.0 controllers and found a fix (not under warranty anymore, of course). Or even a suggestion for another brand that is durable and reliable? My one stipulation is that it MUST have paddles. I can not go back to playing FPS games without paddles, Lmao. I know Scuff were supposedly wonderful controllers back in the day, but they are also quite expensive, if memory serves me. Any tips/suggestions, my fellow forumers?

Post relates to Apex because I use the heck out of the ping system, and this issue severely hinders my Apex experience, Lol

Edit: Forgot to mention I am on Xbox One S

@dSKyNafinchin No, they have a socket, which clicks very securely into place.  I used one short and one tall on my Scuf, and that's what I ordered.  But the PS5 controller is larger than the PS4, and the tall stick turned out to make for too big a stretch for my small hands.

Another popular option is Battle Beaver, but I hear about the same QC issues with them that Scuf has.

@dSKyNafinchin I think I press my sticks hard? I dunno. It started happening after I started playing Apex 2 to 3 hours a day.

@pandareno1999Is it weird I got the standard height sticks and then add kontrol freak extensions? I like the soft tops and they are replaceable. I wear a set out every 8 months or so.

  • @hayhor Not at all weird. The shortest of the three is the one my hands like. If I used the PS5 style I'd probably put a KF on it too, but I like the feel of the xone sticks a lot. They have a nice grip to them that reminds me of the Scuf sticks a bit (I LOVE those).  So far no wear on those, though I have replacements ready.  I replaced my Scuf sticks just about as often as you do your KF.
