@Asmodeus566Sometimes I wonder if the devs even know about this forum lol. They always flock to reddit and Twitter, two very toxic communities...
Speaking of listening, here’s Respawn’s latest take on if they listen to community suggestions. An apex dev quote retweeted on twitter to answer this question “Game devs, what's something that you wish the general public knew about making games?”
And her response was:
“We listen to your problems, not your solutions
It's not because we think your solutions are bad. There are many solutions to a problem. Knowing the problem gives us more data to consider. And if something changes in the future, we can make sure we still avoid the problem, before it happens.
Taking a suggested solution instead of the problem is kind of like following driving directions from a passenger without knowing where they wanna go.
There could be road closures or traffic to avoid, but you won't know to do so unless you know the destination they want to reach.“
I guess they want those threads that just says remove Stormpoint or remove this and that gun with no solutions. Lol.

Ah I see your point. Quoting a tweet on twitter from a Dev about the community. I could really care less about that. No hard feelings Big Cheese.
When was the last time a Dev posted anything here on the EA Apex Legends forum?
Yes here on the forum not on fb, Reddit, twitter etc.

@Gabrielmojo26 Didn’t post the link because y’all know why. 😉
This comment outraged a lot of people in twitter for obvious reasons. Most of the comments are either saying “so that’s the reason why the game is in its state right now” and fellow devs (not of respawn) agreeing to the post.
I’m not sure if this applies to game development too but as a physician it’s always better to listen what your patients’ suggestions as well. Though my patients don’t have the knowledge about cellular processes or pathophysiological processes about their disease, it’s nice to listen to them on what they think would help them too and works for them like their diet or I even I adjust medications based from their schedule. Just saying that it should always be a two way street and the statement of not listening to the community solutions should not have been done.

@Asmodeus566No hard feelings man. I think the way they do things here is that some of the CMs cherry pick some complaints to forward to Respawn devs but I honestly think we’re just shouting into the void most of the time. 😂
And even if we do use twitter/reddit, they just said they dont listen to suggestions. So Respawn…
-Bring back the g7
-make control permanent
-remove ranked arenas cause it stinks
-remove stormpoint cause I don’t want it. - Asmodeus5664 years agoHero+
I get the analogy you used with being a doctor and all and that you patients really have no knowledge on how to be treated but that is just wrong.
I am not a doctor but have worked 8 years in pathology and Lab. So I know my way around some medical conditions.
So yes the Doctor should listen maybe I do know what I am talking about. Same goes for game developers.
I will not scream quietly into the Void, I will roar and make my voice heard.

Some of us are sensitive about the way the game devs communicate with us. It's been notoriously bad. We had a great period a few months back, but now I'm actually starting to miss DZK.
EDIT I hope I won't hurt anyone's feelings with what I'm about to say. The devs will never really care what happens on this forum, or directly communicate with us here. The number of active posters on this board is miniscule. They choose to engage on twitter and, to a lesser extant, reddit because there are thousands and thousands of people engaging there.

He didn't. See my above edit.

Saw your edit and is basically what I said earlier in the thread. No hard feelings just hard truths.
thx for your replies.

This is what happens when a software developer speaks, and a good company insulates these people from the general public, because it's a high-speed car crash.
There is a school of thought in Software Development [tm] where you have the users describe their problems, not offer their solutions. Then the devs get together and hash out the solution. Note this really applies only to where the software isn't working *as expected*. I right click my mouse, but ADS doesn't happen. It's a bug. Obviously we can't tell them how to fix it, we don't know the code. Software devs work on this kind of stuff.
Then there is the class of problems where the product does not meet expectations. Like, "I don't like Storm Point for reasons 1-565". It's a bad experience. That's not going to be a code fix, but a lot of map work. This should come from user requirements and marketing research, for example, not from a bug tracking system. This is where architects and designers work.
But there are lots of people out here who know a lot of software and infrastructure stuff and are going to offer opinions left and right. If Respawn can't stand the heat they should get out of the kitchen.
- hayhor4 years agoHero@Cheese9Man I don't believe for a second they don't listen to solution ideas. You would have to be a complete idiot to completely ignore things but they do have to sift through a lot of crappy ideas that are incredibly short sighted. I think that was the main point of the comment. People struggle to see the big picture.

Well said, very well said.Thank you very much. Wish I could give you more than 1 xp for that answer.
One does have to think about any suggested change, fix, or adjustment not just for one’s own problem but as a benefit not only for themselves but for most all players and with an eye to how it would also benefit the producers and developers of the game.

@Cheese9Man I think the doctor anology is spot on. If a doctor does not listen to the patient when the patient is reporting back about the effect of say prescribed medicines, then there is an issue. Having been a patient, I made sure the doctors heard my point of views about effects vs quality of life, and acted accordingly.
Devs didn't care to hear from the majority of players, thus the consequences we have before us. Qed
I've said it before and I'll say it again, this forum is a focus point for many players and a valuable resource is not imo being used.
28,512,440 million players registered with HQ, how many are apex I'm not sure, but it is not an insignificant number to get feedback from.

And it dosnt take much effort to read the first post in the below thread:
A dev acknowledging that this thread has been read once a month is no biggy. A lot of work has gone into it he thread by the community and esp @Cabowse
No one is asking the dev to interact....... And any attempts at interaction could be discouraged and edited out, so the dev would feel safe 😃 dipping their toes in here.

Back in Feb 2019 someone called @Jayfresh_Respawn
posted in this og thread linking to reddit dev supported apex sub and then promptly disappeared.
A mere 2.1 million members there.

I guess what we all want is just better communication from Respawn. We’re not asking them to reply to each question but to at least address some huge issues that’s still a problem for multiple seasons now. This issue with the xbox game chat hasn’t been updated same goes with the Loba Q. People won’t follow 15 different developers to get these updates. I guess PC and Playstation players are just lucky since Switch players also had a problem where the water in some maps are just purple. LOL.
How about they communicate using their main twitter profile? Did you guys know they added some additional code to stop DDoS attacks? This should’ve been communicated at least in the patch notes to put some people at ease. I know EA is also involved in limiting on what the devs can say at Respawn. Poor or no communication is one of the ingredients that killed Overwatch.
One of the reasons why communication was better back then compared to now. Who else remembers these dev streams where they explain the changes in the upcoming patch?

@Cheese9Man just noticed this at the front of this site. 6,540 online here at the moment.
