@DankToliet Pros complain about them because their end games come down to no circle left. 2 teams left, one downs all 3 members of the other and loses because the ring kills them. It was happening a lot early season in high ranked when it was played like algs.
@hayhorThat specific scenario still super rare all things considered. Perhaps when there's no circle left, gold knock downs become disabled so it becomes a sudden death scenario. That would make sense, touching the power level of the shield itself would make it more worthless than it already is.
The fallacy with these scenarios is that people assume the person in question will only self rez after two other teammates are down.
Self-rez becomes a very valuable strat in top 5 squads when the other two teammates are still up. Instead of having to be down other teammate to help rez, the other two can help defend your position while you self resurrect. It's not an optimal situation by any means, but if you've managed to position yourself to have a killbox in front of you (doorway, hallway, ravine, etc.) then your gold shield pays off.
Are the odds still stacked? Sure. But if you're only resurrecting because you were hoping your teammates would win the fight and come help you after so you didn't have to "waste" the gold shield then, you're not utilizing the gold shield correctly.
- @DankToliet It isn't that rare end game with a bunch of teams tho. Watching streamers it was happening a lot. It's why it's not in ALGS.
I personally don't care if they remove it or not. I've stopped picking it up. I've had too many end game scenarios watching people spam fake finishers on the person that has it. shoot, just read what you said about gold KD's not working at last circle. Ignore my previous msg 🙂
