Gold Tier is the broken point

You can see everything wrong with the Ranked system as you pass through Gold  It's the tier where I think I saw a Master drop, definitely frequent Diamonds, and yet people who rose up from rookies who still hot drop are feeding other players with kills as the struggling rookies still don't have concept of engagement or map movement.

It is also the tier where, at Gold II, you start having to beat 75% of your supposedly equal skilled peers to advance just a small amount of points; it takes hundreds of points to advance, but if you get 4th, you net, what, 15 points?  Even when you get kills, it is too small to matter.

Respawn stole the ranked system, but made it even worse with their pro feedback.  Ironic, since ranked for pros is mostly a casual affair as they play in leagues, or they're making money streaming all their ranked game kills.  (but it's not their fault, if you listen to them, it was Respawn who didn't do what they said :P ).  I mean, you can look at any sport and know this is an embarrassingly atrocious system to try and sell as a serious game mode while keeping a straight face.

Honestly I was debating uninstalling, but not for the reasons most people do it.  It's less a rage quit, and more of a...if I have to wait overnight for the game to reinstall, then maybe it will help me consider other things to play.  Then if Apex really is still that good, it's not a big deal reinstalling it.  I haven't because pubs are still their...and yet...playing pubs still takes away from game time trying other things.

We'll see.  I haven't been talked out of Apex yet, but I know they aren't changing because they are super heels dug in about how we'll all see the greatness of their system someday.  You know, if we just follow what streamers and pros do, we'll all understand that gold knockdown shields were super problematic and the kraber was broken.  It's more important to always only have an R-301 :P

  • @KelRiever I played an hour of bronze ranked the other day to avoid SP. I saw so many preds, masters and diamonds it was crazy. I felt genuinely bad for my teammates because I play ranked just like pubs. I fight. The difference is because I feel bad I try to help them and eventually die. Oh and I can't leave toxic players so that's a huge issue for me.

I have no real issue with pubs other than lack of balance. I have a good amount of fun in pubs and don't worry about teammates unless they show me they deserve it.
  • This is a good attitude, and truthfully for Pubs it is the fun that matters.

I think, in fact, you could TL;DR my whole OP by saying Ranked is not fun anymore 🙂

  • @KelRiever Haven’t played apex in about a week. These apex breaks are occurring more often recently. This might reflect the game’s current fun factor or just the game lacking in new content.

@reconzero @lol! Yes it was sometimes. But not lately

@Cheese9Man im plating Rumblefest cause it’s dumb.  I wanted a more serious sci fi BR which is why I did Apex but maybe I needed a goofy break too

@KelRiever I tried rumblefest when they did the server trial before release. 2 games and I deleted that.
