I'm fed up with Kings Canyon.
I'm absolutely not fed up with this game.
The one major point I wonder is how much EA wants to crank profit on this...and while I know as much as possible, everyone knows at some point you lose the game and the money if you play the fence too hard. They sure seem to be playing the fence hard at EA....
1. Way overpriced skins: Okay, everybody wants to be Fortnite, but everyone's not. And that doesn't mean Fortnite charging $20 for a skin is okay either. $20 skins, $20 submachine guns, just no...absolutely not. Way too much money. And I don't care how much 'the industry' charges, we know what things are worth.
2. There are 2 maps out since launch. Two. And people talk about rotation as if there was anything to rotate to. One map, KC, is so screwed up that its been revamped over and over and over again. And I bet before the end of this game, we get a bunch more versions, all worse than their predecessors.
3. Leavers. Literally encouraged by the way this game is right now. You can get all your credit for playing the game even if you disconnect. That's a total ploy for hoping people will just play this game and stick around long enough to buy something, over making the game challenges worthwhile and the game better. Frankly, that's the one thing I can really see being shortsighted...more players dumping this over quality than wanting to play it because there's no penalties for anything they do. Even if more players are gained, it makes the quality of Apex super low and feels ratty cheap. Like slum cheap.
There's a lot to love. World's Edge for one (and yeah, that's gone right now, so good one on that), the movies and lore, brilliant artistry. Good character ideas with special abilities, but shooting (which is what the game is about) is still most important. There's a lot of bugs, a LOT, but somehow the game is still fun to load up and play.
I feel like this game would do a lot better with more quality control. And sure while one character is added per season, there's a need for like 4 more actually entirely new maps. One of those a season with the character would go a long way. And, I'm kind of betting if EA wasn't trying to make slaves out of its developers, they'd realize they make enough money to pay them well enough to do that without having to push stupid hours on their employees.
EA might even find a way to make net more money from it too. Hard to believe but sometimes quality helps make money...
