Look, I enjoy pathfinder, but he was DEFINITELY the most powerful legend by a significant margin
His grapple singlehandedly lets him do the following, unmatched
-Chase down any opponent
-Flee any opponent
-Escape any sort of trap or bad situation
-Maneuver for flanks
You would think that Wraith had the best "get out of jail free" card
But no, its Pathfinder
The ONLY way you could beat a good pathfinder player was if he made SIGNIFICANT mistakes
If you broke a PF's shields, he would simply grapple away, and by the time you caught up to him again, he is back at full health
If a PF broke your shields, you couldn't escape, you were dead
His tactical is THE best in the game, bar none
I legit stopped playing as pathfinder as it just felt too cheap to play as
Havent played too much with the recent nerf, but being restricted to 1 use per a standard firefight seems absolutely fine to me
Means you cant simply escape any situation you don't like and need to THINK when to apply your tactical
Keep the change
- 6 years ago@Mad_Dog8762 it's amazing how many people complain about his nerf and some even complained a few hours after the update. They're not even trying to adjust.
- 6 years ago@Mad_Dog8762 I’m still playing Path. I’m adapting. I’m rolling with the punches.
But saying that you’re happy that a portion of the playerbase is upset?
Sorry man, but ANY nerf of that magnitude on ANY character is a big deal. We’re talking about people who have invested time into a certain play style. The same nerf could have been achieved gradually, not in one single update. I don’t think there has been one specific nerf as impactful as a 133% increase in cool down speed.
Again, I will roll with it, as should other Path mains. But the reaction from the community is warranted.- 6 years ago
A significant portion of the playerbase was taking advantage of a, frankly, overpowered legend
Whats to expect when you take away their unfair advantage?
Very few people have the maturity to simply say
"Damn, that was fun, but definitely OP. I'm glad they balanced it"
Most people simply get upset when they are forced to change
The magnitude of the nerf can definitely be debated, sure
But factoring HOW powerful a pathfinder was, a "subtle" nerf would likely not be enough
To me, limiting its use to once a firefight seems absolutely fine to me, considering its power

-Maneuver for flanksThat isn't entirely true, path cant outpace another path nor a bloodhound or octane and wraith for that matter. How often do you chase a pathy round the map anyway that's suicide in high tier ranked games. You should welcome a pathy that grapples away from his team when you crack his shield to turn it into a 3v2 fight anyway.
Pathy felt so overpowered only playing vs bad players, it just made it so much easier to outplay players that aren't aware of what's going down.
So positives for pathy were
High mobility with grapple
Zipline for team to gain high ground advantage
The ability to play well solo when your team is dead.
Negatives now are
High mobilty is now a gimmick
Takes increased damage
as of the latest season couldn't escape a team unless they were super bad.
There's literally only one place a pathy was overpowered and uncontested in every single way and that was skulltown, simply because he could grapple a building and only another pathy would keep up.
Ive said this before but il mention it again each and every class has weakness and strengths, in paths case last season he could take high ground fast get a knock and get back out if he needed to.
But its very easy to shut down a pathy from doing this you anticipate him taking the high ground or you back up to a new position. If you take high ground first he is an easy target coming up, if hes hyper aggressive player and chases you and your team down if you decide to reposition it becomes a 3v1 fight. Both scenarios the pathy gets wrecked. Pathy was only so good at what he does when catching other players making a mistake.
When ive played vs a good team with a gibby, ive flanked them got someone one shot and down comes gibbys shield, I have two choices push in and die because my team is still a little farther away or we just reset the fight when the shield expires. How is pathy overpowered there. You just have to use the right tools to punish a pathy. In gibbys case he dropped his shield and stopped me in my tracks. Every class can out manuovre each other. This game is more about movement and positioning than gun game.
- 6 years ago@MikwinN11 Path was a 1v1 god
Now sure, you could argue that in well coordinated teams he was balanced
But what are 90% of games?
A bunch of Randoms thrown together, with limited teamwork
So if a character is OP in 90% of games, he is OP
Sorry bout it
