I completely agree, casual multiplayer pretty much doesn’t exist anymore. We live in different times than when I started back on the original Gears of War back in 2006, you had decent players like me, bad players and awesome players all chucked in the same lobbies and it was great. Still had a love hate relationship with competitive games but loved them all the same. Move forward and we have really heavy handed SBMM that just ruins matches, I tried to play COD Cold War after a break from the series and found the multiplayer to be pretty decent, 3 weeks in and I had to walk away because every match was sweaty, like it was life and death. Add into the mix the rise of YouTubers and streamers in general who literally make their living from posting sweaty footage and what chance do regular gamers actually have! I love and hate Apex in equal measure, it’s a beautiful game and quite often I want to kick it right in the nut sack because of its sweaty nature.
