Good lesson for the kids out there tho. If you post things online they can bite you later in life.

@hayhor I wasn't aware of the negative interactions. Looked up a bit of it and he appears to have been very self important. Surprising that they let him away with it for so long. Sad way to live imo, with the opportunities he was given.

It is official and confirmed by DZK himself. But I think this is an exaggerated drama. Those essays aren't that big of a deal. I've read them and they feel to me as if he was trying too much to shock readers and that's about it. It's a big stretch to call him a racist or misogynist based on those alone, but society is waaay too sensitive right now. Also, it doesn't feel right to me to get fired over something that has nothing to do with his work, so I hope there was something more behind Respawn's reasoning , otherwise this raises some big red flags. What's next, people getting fired for having different religions or political views?
- hayhor4 years agoHero@Koochi-Q It is like 4 minutes. And I'm not in a good way with what I got going here so just watch it. lol

Really, really, really stupid, but funny. That eve thing, wow... just wow.
But it’s funny how quickly ppl go for the ‘he’s almost 30, he can’t say such things!’ without taking into account the time of writing.
If someone said the same thing in 1950’s, he’d be a ‘normal outspoken man’. Now, nahhh it’s slander, misogynistic. I get that it’s offensive, but it’s ‘creative writing’. Look at most male artists (vocal), if we go by what they say about women, sex and everything in between, they’re all misogynistic or offensive.
I think a person should be free to say what he wants, except if it’s directed at somebody. Everything nowadays can upset someone. Heck even religious stuff is cause for most bloodshed since the dawn of time. For this reason I don’t think D. should have been fired from his job, but knowing the times we live in, if he wasn’t fired, the company would get bad press and likely even protests and/or a petition rally.
That being said, companies are very careful nowadays. I remember that it started years ago that companies actually looked ppl up before accepting them for a job interview. If you had ‘indecent’ photos swirling online, companies would just blatantly ignore or tell you you weren’t right for the company. Indecent pics were anything from you at a certain party or just having a good time in a club to actually nude pics. This would even be if those pics were years old.

@OldTreeCreeperYeah we knew that when it came out. It doesnt help when he interacts with the community in a negative way, which is what he was doing recently in response to criticism. So then he became a target and people dug it up. He was let go from riot a few years ago for similar.
Good lesson for the kids out there tho. If you post things online they can bite you later in life. But the problem was he was already 27 years old in 2007-2009 when he posted those stuff. He could’ve been forgiven if he was an angsty kid posting random doodoo but he was a grown man back then.
As for the others saying that he shouldn’t be fired for what you say outside work, as a company, you don’t want to associate yourself having employees who are racist and sexist. Even if DZK was good at his job, public perception is major consideration especially for a gaming company. Same reason why the sponsors of Overwatch League ditched Blizzard because of the recent accusations. And yes you should behave outside of work too. And no being racist is different from having different religions.
- 4 years ago@hayhor Not just his posts, he really couldn't keep up with discussions too and was rude. I think this was more of an excuse because he clearly ruined the balance of the game the past 2 seasons and season 10 is awful balance-wise.
- 4 years ago@WreckingVi Even in games studios much smaller than Respawn, design decisions are hardly taken by one man / team alone. There are pitches, selection phases, thorough tests that can take months and all these involve a lot of people that carefully watch the data to predict what is going to happen before giving their feedback or vote.
IT's hard to say whether DZK was a bad designer or not. Yeah, he was not the best at communicating with the community, but that's not normally part of his job. Some of the things players complain about may have been decided by others and even downvoted by Daniel.
Anyway, the game isn't as unbalanced as everyone says it is. A lot of the drama is caused by resistance to change and the backfire effect. A real unbalanced game would not be near as successful as Apex is at this moment.- 4 years ago
Here's a legit question: Why doesn't Thordan Smash mention the blogs containing the source or at least post links to it, as a proper journalist should do? Is he trying to hide the fact that some of these are on Deviant Art, under literature section?
