I know I suck, but.....

I have lost count of how many times this has happened and I just wondered if it's the exception or the rule.
I will get the drop on someone and empty a clip of heavy into their back and they turn around and bang I'm dead. Full blue or higher armor and health gone in a split second. I can't be the only one this happens to. Any ideas? Lag? BTW, I'm an average player so telling me I suck or get good isn't helpful. I can see the damage numbers roll up, so I know I'm hitting them. Today I literally unloaded half a clip into a wraiths face at point blank and I didn't even see her shoot and I was dead. Super frustrated.

    @Tad844

    What other reasons would be there to keep SBMM the way it is, if not to try and keep people engaged in the game? They can change SBMM as they wish and please.
    In other words as @apostolateofDOOM mentioned in some past posts, EOMM may be the reason why no changes will happen to SBMM, because the pattern of loses and wins is proven to foster engagement.

    Essentially SBMM will be kept the way it is because it works exactly as they like it. It is like going to the casino and gamble, even if it is known that games are rigged, and the odds are clearly stacked against you --the player.

    @Sand_spitter The issue arises from most of what people see in the media and especially on twitch it is all built on lies. Streamers using 3rd party programs, undetectable Autohotkey no recoil scripts, teaming, lag switching, you name it. Gaming promotion is built on fakes and liars along with the most gullible fan base there is.

    Look at how many streamers and even pro's get caught and the game publishers only slap them on the wrist.

    And on top of this game companies are going away with using dedicated hardware to put servers on slices of AWS Virtual machines with minimal resources. They claim they are "dedicated" instances saying they are physically isolated at the host hardware level from instances that belong to other AWS accounts. Instances are VMs all sharing the same hardware. Just because they use semantics to make it seem like it is dedicated hardware is just marketing tactics. I have never seen more server related issues in any other game than Apex.

    Lag compensation used to be leading your target back in the day, now you have a huge advantage with high ping. If your packets get dropped or you stutter on the battlefield and your low ping enemies reliably register hits on the, you win. Modern gaming by all intents and purposes has not made the progress I would have hoped to have seen in 20+ years to this point with online competitive gaming.
  • @GRiPSViGiL So true, what's mind boggling is that not only kids but grown * men still believe in the bs they're being sold. Gullable indeed.

    Hey folks,

    It shouldn't need to be said, but to be clear, people don't receive special advantages or particular lobbies just because they stream.

    Many (not all) of the situations mentioned throughout this thread can often be attributed to latency issues. Keep in mind for a streamer where their livelihood is highly dependent on the ability to not only play a game but also stream it concurrently, having a strong connection and staying on top of any potential latency issues is key.

    If anyone would like to go through some troubleshooting themselves but isn't sure where to start checking for potential latency issues, this article is a great place to start, with the tech forums being a great place to get tips or assistance from others as well.

    As far as cheats and exploits, everyone is also subject to the same rules, streamer or not. If you run into anyone cheating in-game please be sure to use the reporting options available to you. That includes teaming, as we've recently expanded the reporting options to cover a few other harmful behaviors.

    If you're seeing cheating take place in a game you're not participating in yourself or are otherwise unable to use the reporting option, you can use this webform to bring that to our attention and it will be investigated appropriately.

    This thread has gotten pretty far off track and I'll be closing it here, thanks all.
