Because I've used a controller since the release of Apex Legends and for about twenty six years in other titles. I'm certain I could tell what input device someone is using. I have forty thousand kills using a controller, and two thousand using a mouse & keyboard. It's quite easy in my opinion to distinguish the two input devices.
I have 190 wins in Apex Legends with a controller just in season 0 alone, I know for a fact I've killed more mouse & keyboard players then controller players, but that's just because the majority back then were mouse & keyboard players. It's also quite common for consoles to be in PC lobbies now.
Now though, I kill more controller players then anything, mostly because it's the majority of input devices in Apex Legends as most mouse & keyboard players moved to other titles.
My controller aim (even on a linear curve) looks like small nudges across the screen, but mouse & keyboard is a smooth transition.
- 4 years ago@Popa2caps Ok so you're really saying you did better on controller therefore it's OP vs mouse? Why not just try to improve your mouse skills then? You can't expect it to be a smooth transition between platforms. Also, I've played PC version too and very rarely saw any controller players kill me. At this point though these threads seem to be going in circles tbh. If you ask my opinion, which I'm sure you'll resent, is that you need more practice on mouse aim, just my 10c.

Congratulations, you proved that AA does something, which everyone already knows. You've done nothing to demonstrate that it is unbalanced or problematic. It would take seconds for me to come up with a similar red herring about KBM. I can't help but see this as a troll/bait.

No, this thread was perfectly fine before you stuck your non-topic remarks into it. You're one of the reasons these aim assist topics go out of control with nonsensical questions and/ or get closed. Every topic and/ or discussion on this forum about aim assistance and all you do is give your little remark in, please stop.
I gave you a reply, but haven't responded to it. That either shows you're not here for open discussion, but rather to defend aim assist because it directly affects you in some way.
I kindly ask you to stay on topic.

I made a post giving my opinion of this topic and its premise. I certainly haven't personally insulted you in any way, and I think you'd be hard pressed to find where I have broken any sort of forum rules. I did choose the word "troll" very poorly for sure, and for that I do apologize. You are not a troll and I'm sorry for the implication. But, again, that was my opinion of the post, not a name I called you. In my opinion, though, the topic does feel like bait to spur the inevitable, emotional arguments about aim assist. It doesn't seem to invite a discussion. You seem to be addressing a faction that I don't really see here on the forum, of players who say that aim assist "doesn't really do anything." You will find plenty of controller players here who understand how aim assist works, and are happy to take part in a nuanced discussion.
What do you mean by "a big deal" in the title of this thread? You see, that question contained in the title is the only question asked in this thread. Do you want to discuss that aim assist is overtuned in some ways? Then say that. Give some specifics and let's discuss that, The rest of the post is just your analysis that aim assist is quite powerful in close range tracking, the one area in which they excel compared with KBM. Literally no one is going to argue that that isn't true, but you've presented it as your main thrust.
- 4 years ago@hayhor LOL how are you aside from Apex?
