I can’t for the life of me get past diamond IV, and I swear it gets more difficult every season just to get to diamond. Even on days where I’m moving better, shooting better, and getting more kills, I get matched up with the most boneheaded players who only land in hotspots and jump in battles that they have no business entering. More importantly they need to critique the damage, I cannot tell you how many times I’ll headshot or nail someone several times WITH THE SAME SHIELD AS ME and yet they can hit me once or twice and I’m down. Makes no damn sense. I swear the devs have morphed this game to keep ranked players locked where they are, in which case, what’s the point of even having a midseason split? Smh

Er, no?I was going to post a topic on this but I got ambivilent because either it wouldn't get noticed, or I could post it here like on this page and watch it also get ignored and buried.Since it's work to explain, and the reward is slim, I'm just going to sum it up:Look at the way ranking is scored. You can climb through gold by winning and getting a human amount of kills, like 1 or 2. But once you hit plat, you need to get one or two kills and also get like top 6. Or basically top 2 if you want to really advance. So pretty much everyone in platinum skill is either actually Plat IV, or a Diamond working through the ranks.And it only gets worse from there.I'm never bothering myself to grind to Diamond. Respawn, I think, likes their ranking system this way, but it's massively flawed. I watch Diamond IV players showing up in Platinum all the time, throwing games because, seriously, who the F cares? You aren't getting past Diamond with -48 points per game unless you are winning or placing top IV with 3+ kills, and....that's against players at Diamond level. So good luck with that.Point is, all climb ranking systems have a messed up sort of bell curve. Once you hit your level, you tend to sit there and go nowhere else. It's a sort of illusion that you can advance past a certain point. But Pretty much the ranks are actually:Platinum: Platinum IVDiamond: Plat III-I and Diamond IVMasters: Diamond III-I and Masters IVApex: Just Apex. Because as far as I can tell they don't even sit in Masters III-I for long enough to matter.Anyway, someone up in the nosebleed ranks can correct me if I'm wrong, but it's simply not true that we can all achieve Apex rank. Not even if you grind 8 hours a day for a lot of people. I mean is it possible? Sure. But you have to ask yourself is it worth it?

@Cheese9Man Grinding for a dive trail seems quite silly to me. The better you get the better your opponents get until you get to a plateau where you dont want to be as tryhard.I'm guessing now even when you play pubs your opponents have tons of trails. This is what I've noticed when I play with friends. 70% or more of the lobbies are diamond or above. It explains why I have brutal days sometimes playing this.

@DaDeDimson I think Diamond is one of the big divide in terms of skill.There are a few points in which skill divides the player populations. Gold is where about 74% of the player population peaks in terms of their skill limiting their ability to climb ranks.Platinum is the next big divide, it's where players who are above average but not quite Diamond+ material get stuck. Typically this is where the players who spam crouch and strafe win fights over those who do not. Those who do not spam crouch and strafe tend to get stuck in Platinum. Diamond is where the top 5% get stuck. Just because you're stuck in diamond does not mean you're not capable of pushing up into Master ranks. You might be getting stuck because of your teammates or other reasons. If your skill is part of the issue. It's probably not your aim, but more than likely your movement. When I'm in the top PUBS lobbies, I tend to get melted by Master/Preds who simply move around the buildings better than me. If it's just a shoot out in the open, the fights tend to be decided by who has their ult or who ever shoots first.The difference between Diamond and Master players tends to be fairly minimal in most instances. But it's just enough for Master rank players to push up into Master ranks.

Is there an algorithm to keep players the same rank forever?

I feel your pain though, there are countless times where I just seem to get stuck in Diamond and never get out or make any progress.

Yeah. This Ranking system needs a major rework.
I cant even tell why im at the rank im currently at. Everybody ,EVERYBODY is soooo way beyond my skill i can hardly kill a single enemy. Often I don't even notice what's happening.
Im just a 100% canonfodder lootbag.
Its not even challenging, it's just a waste of time.

@Apyhs Idk if it’s just because there’s more cheaters now than in previous seasons or what, but yeah, it’s more difficult in my mind to get a kill now a days, at least on console, I can’t speak for pc.

Grinded my a** off last season to diamond just to get a dive trail for the first time. At first I felt like I was part of the "elite" for having a dive trail then I started my first S9 game and saw that everyone has the diamond trail as well. LOL. It's not worth it for me.
