- @SethCurry What do you suggest they do to resolve this issue?
Sometimes I myself manage to land the last shot on an enemy from afar and knock them before they down my teammates. Or I land a fatal punch to knock the enemy down faster while my teammates fire away at them.
I would like to be rewarded for ending fights faster and I believe the current system does that well with the assist points counting the same as kills. The only difference would be my Kill Count on my banners will not go up. - zeues19926 years agoRising Veteran
Although I'm trying to raise my K/D, but as long as I'm being rewarded in ranked games, and whoever do the kills gets me closer to win a game it's fine.
- @SethCurry are you kidding me right now? Who cares who killed the guy, Just as long as he's dead 🙂
- @Huntinwabits Solo players care :P
I must admit I'm a bit puzzled who gets kills at the moment. I always thought it was whoever did the most damage. This affects who you report as well.

BFV gives a kill credit to the person doing the lion share of the damage. Something like 75-80% of it I think.
I just wish Knockdowns was a stat kept.

I'd love if knocks were tracked. Not for XP or anything, just to make myself feel better for those games where I'm not getting the kills confirmed.
As for kill stealing, which would folks prefer, a system where the person doing the most damage gets the kill? Or would you prefer a system with multiple potential kill credits per kill, and the resulting changes to what the K/D stat means?
There would be a lot to consider to any change of such a system.
As it's a game with armor and damage modifiers, if you were to give kill credit for damage what would be the threshold for getting a kill? Would it be 150 damage if they're in Purple armour? What if they're in gold and chugging shield pots, a well stocked person could take more than 150 damage from 2 enemies in an engagement.
And then 3rd parties come into it. If some poor Mirage escapes an engagement but stumbles into your team at 20 health, who gets the kill? Should it go to the last tapper, or the person who did the most damage?
With so many factors to consider, I understand why the studio went for "last tap gets the kill", despite the listed flaws with such a system. Killing blow gets the kill credit. Literally the only proper way to do it. There's no need to change anything and I really don't get what's there not to understand about: your bullet kills the target - you get the kill. There's assists credits for doing damage. That's literally how every single good game counts kills (fps, moba's, etc).
Anything else would just not make any sense and would be a nonsense mess.
P.S. The assists are awarded weirdly sometimes (I'm 70% confident I've had cases where I've dealt damage within <5 seconds of a kill and didn't get any assist credit) - that does need work (but I think it's mostly bugs in the system). But assists should never become "kills".
P.P.S. With finalized, bug-free system of counting assists, a kda rating should also be calculated and shown (kills+assists / deaths). Also, I don't get why assists are not shown in the final screen of every game (especially ranked, where assists are even valued the same as kills...).
- @SethCurry Poor guy can't finish his own kills, so he comes to the forum to complain about it. We all feel so sorry for you.
