Light rounds slow?

I thought only heavy ammo slowed. I thought that was their whole gimmick. I keep getting slowed any time I'm shot. It's literally the worst mechanic in the game. Other players don't seem to be slowed by non heavy rounds (a lot of wraiths kept running full speed through R301 fire over the seasons.)

  • @pandareno1999 Everybody said it. I thought I saw a post from EA detailing the different ammo gimmicks but then again it could have been some dumb clout chaser looking for farm views. Pisses me off that this kind of misinfo proliferates.

  • @LetMeVsBots @dSKyNafinchin Here are other bullet facts that not a lot of apex players didn’t know:

Did you know that there is a limited range where a bullet can register as headshot per specific gun?

Example: Shotguns (Mastiff, Eva and Mozam) the maximum range you can hit someone with a head shot is 38m. If the enemy is past that, let’s say 39m, the bullet will only register as regular body shot and not a headshot. The exemption is the PK where you can hit a headshot even 100m away (unchoked) and 300m away (choked).

SMG and Pistols (except Wingman): 38m

    Wing: 254m

    LMG: 64m

Assault rifles and Bocek Bow: 300m

    Other Marksman rifles (TT, 30-30, G7): 450m

Snipers (except the Charge rifle): 750m

    Charge rifle: 300m

It’s weird that the PK has more range than the LMG. So from now on if you saw someone post in the forum, reddit, or twitter saying that he was hit in the head by an R99 100m away, he’s lying. This is hard coded in the game.

Also forgot to mention that the further away the enemy, your bullets (especially for snipers) actually becomes a bit bigger. I guess these are in place to better hit shots at a longer distance as compensation.

@Cheese9Man Always coming through with the data!

The Wingman and PK headshot ranges are definitely farther out than I was thinking, Lol. What's with the CR getting less than 50% headshot range, compared to the rest of the snipers? I don't like the weapon, so I don't use it. Is there some gimmick with the gun, that makes this necessary? Also somewhat surprised that the Kraber doesn't have infinite headshot range

@dSKyNafinchin That’s a great question. I actually didn’t look if the Kraber is part of the sniper category since it was never a ground loot gun. As for the charge rifle, I guess it’s to balance the gun since it’s the only heat scan weapon with no bullet drop and no delay when the time you fire and the time it hits the target.

Here’s the actual code in the game.

Farthest apex kill (using a charge rifle) kill ever.

@Cheese9Man That's dope! The Wingman distance is the most mind-blowing, personally.

That longest kill is cool and all, but I'm honestly more impressed that they got an entire lobby to themselves, in order to pull it off. The shot itself was staged, so not that impressive to me, but that's some dedication on their part, just to see if it was possible! Props to them for that part, at least!

Charge Rifle drop off was nerfed for balance reasons quite some time ago.

It perplexes me how the misinformation about heavy ammo persists for so long.  A couple seasons ago I heard a well regarded youtuber repeat this notion, fortunately his friend corrected him.

It is unfortunate!  It has never been the case that any ammunition type slows more than another in Apex.
