@HappyHourSumwurNot necessarily a lie. Respawn is limited by EA. Respawn can have great ideas for Apex, but when they talk about them to EA and EA says "won't be money from this", Respawn has hands tied. Matchmaking in this game was designed to make money, by attracting players (you are a new player, you enter the game, you get kills and wins immediately, comparative to other BR - of course because you are carried). Respawn has control over for example weapons balance, legends balance. EA controls matchmaking, skins, and probably also bugs like tap strafing, mantle jumping etc. that are still in the game, although Respawn said they will remove it... years ago.
Did they specifically say they would update it this season? It might've been more of a long term plan. Also I doubt they would get people's hopes up with the blog post if EA wasn't gonna let them do it.
@Noobby_Groovy777That's what I read. I believe the MM blog post mentioned "early 2023" for when they will start to roll out the big MM changes, but offered no actual date. I think a lot of people assumed the MM changes were released with S16, but as far as I am aware, that is not the case. I saw that they were doing some test runs in some EU regions recently, but I haven't seen anything about a widespread rollout of any major changes, as of yet.
- HappyHourSumwur3 years agoSeasoned Ace@AreYouShivering I know. I just had a particularly bad session last night and wanted to vent.
Bad &/ or toxic teammates, hot drop cluster fiestas, Masters/Preds/cheaters/smurfs, netcode issues, .
. you name it.
I died in so many infuriating ways I lost track.
That's what ticks me off about the matchmaking. It isn't so much how often I die, but how I die and the fact that the game can't see that & does nothing about it. How many times do you have to get annihilated in your first fight before the MM algorithm decides to make adjustments, assuming it even does make changes? - BigMacAttack8u3 years agoSeasoned AceAfter reading @Kyldenar ‘s short novel I wholeheartedly agree, but I think you’re missing a player type.
6. The clowns. The players that strive for the funniest kills, not becase they stream it or post it, just cause it makes them laugh. They can be found playing lots of legends and always know the best rat spots. These players get high kill games, but often die quick in the attempt to set a trap. - Kyldenar3 years agoSeasoned Ace@BigMacAttack8u I mean, that sounds like a valid type, but I got to imagine they are a very small percentage of the population.
- BigMacAttack8u3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Kyldenar I’m pretty sure it just consists of me and a couple friends 🤣
- HappyHourSumwur3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Kyldenar You've got that in Word or a Google doc for quick cutting and pasting, don't you?
I fully agree with the Kyldenar Matchmaking Manifesto, BTW. I just needed to vent. @Kyldenar you forgot those Chaos Monkeys. The little kids that enters the match and talks about Fortnite all during the match. Asking each other random questions about this game and giving each other the wrong advice. Sure they are few and far between but sometimes fun to play with as long as you don't care about winning anytime soon.
🤔 I am sure there are a lot more player types, but I love those chaos monkeys!

@dSKyNafinchinMy lobbies have changed drastically. The new changes I'm sure were sent in with s16. My games have been dreadful I'm being paired against 3 stack players with 50k + kills as a solo player. It use to be rough but nothing like I'm seeing this season. Enough so to where I'm hardly even playing the game anymore. It has become not as fun with the changes I'm seeing. Friends hardly even play anymore. I do not mind playing against preds or masters but to have half a lobby filled with them is beyond annoying. I can solo 1-2 people but 3? Just not doable by me with my skill level. No reason when going in solo I should be faced against teams who devote all their time playing together and being strong together when I'm solo. Needless to say these match-making changes are taking a tole on me.
Also it feels like they are tossing us all over different regions. Some games I'm at 20 ping other servers I'm at 120 ping or more. I tested out of science every single region in NA to see my highest ping when playing was a 50 ping. I then went to UK where I average about 120 give or take. So if I'm not seeing 120 ping on any NA server that I'm on and I am randomly this is meaning I'm being pushed to other regions. Typically id chalk it up as server issues but upon testing it was a clear sign something is going on behind the scenes. (Mind you just an assumption on my end) but upon testing I'm seeing a big difference.
