Pathfinder is a skirmisher and not recon? How?

The designations, even the distinctions, are a little arbitrary. Especially when you consider how many legends can, as noted, be played in very different ways depending on the player's play style, teammate strengths and weaknesses, or specific situations. Think of it as a roulette wheel. And just because it lands somewhere this season, don't expect that legend to stay in that class forever. The dev loves to mix things up even when it makes to sense at all.

The point I was trying to make is that any legend can be played in any class style. Gibby can hold down buildings due to his gun shield and fortified ability and his bubble can make him have more control over the fight in a building and even his ult can force players to either escape or enter thus he can be played as a controller. Bloodhound can be played as assault and so on...I just dont get why they'd limit a legend to a specific class when they can be literally played as any role. For example the role system makes so much more sense in OW where tanks are mostly meant to absorb damage and give damage heroes a window to wipe out opponents where support heroes are generally meant for healing and reviving,,But that is not the case for apex at all. Even revenant could be played as support lol

I was looking at players and deciding what criteria makes them one or the other.

Skirmishers tend to have no offensive ability, often have movement abilities
Pathfinder is probably the most Skirmish level player, failing that, he would likely be support due to the zipwire being able to transport teammates.

Mirage could definitely be either be skirmisher or support
Skirmish, because his abilities are largely trick/confusion based and not offensive, support because he can revive teammates invisibly.

Controllers have abilities that lock down an area, block access with defensive items. The controllers are accurate.

Revanant is a fair point, though he feels far more attacking. He'd likely need abilities that act as recon more to change.

Gibby is not a controller as his ability does not lock down an area - if his ultimate blocked or damaged or stun enemies for entering, then perhaps.

Horizon, no, her abilities are movement based other than maybe a control type ult, she suits skirmisher.

Ash could potentially be an attacker, but her ability is lacklustre. They really need to revamp the snare or change it. Personally I would make the snare last longer, and really lock a player, i never has a negative impact on me to be hit by it. They could also give her ultimate like 3 loads, or make it really fast loading. her ult is only mildly better than Loba's tact.
