Playerbase dropping
Following the steamcharts, the playerbase is dropping rapidly. Peak playerbase is the lowest since over a year ago. The summer just started and we are midseason and the playerbase is alrdy at a seri...
@matzesingt I'm not sure you can say it did flop.
Over 560K, according to apex tracker, played enough games to get to masters. That's a lot of game time. Imo from a business perspective it has been a roaring success. Players could now taking a rest for a bit. Those players like me who own the BP will be doing the daily and weekly challenges to complete the BP and event.
Others may well be still trying to get to masters to get the badge. The end of season numbers will tell us that.
@OldTreeCreeperHow can you call it a success when a fifth of your playerbase left in a single month ?
Wanna go further and ask yourself why only 560k out of 4mil did get master when it’s pretty much free to get ? Why are the other 3.5mil not getting it ? Probably because a big Chunck of them is not even playing anymore.
I mean we could really go into deep detail here with unique players on steam to figure how many unique pc players played and How many stayed arround but not only that, we would also have a realistic unique number of consoleplayers the last month this way. The outcome would probably be something like 2 out of the 4 Million were steamplayers probably even more. The avg across all platforms might well be only arround 500-600k
So why you believe it was a success ? Ea is not a small company, apex is not a noname ip. Yet it only gets 4mil unique players in a season on board while games like csgo hit 1.2 mil avg not to mention unique players every day approx 2,729,750 people. On a single Plattform, that is true success…even pubg is above apex alrdy now, before the season even ended, the playerbase is still to drop by much more till next season.
That’s what apex competes against…
i mean cs and valorant are in a league of their own but damn apex should atleast be the most successfully br game out there.
@matzesingt players have not left as you say, it is a usual swing in player numbers. @hayhor linked to these interesting stats that give a good indication of how things stand with the swings over time.
A peak player base of 437K in the last 30 days is not a bad place to be nor as bad a position as you would make out.

It was not free to get to masters, you had to play a not insignificant number of games and spend that time ingame to get there. Over 540K players made that effort.
Please dive as deep as you like, I would prefer some evidence of what you assert, rather than the use of the word "probably".
To me the figures from the above linked site clearly shows that Apex is maintaing it's market share in a very competitive market. That is a success is it not?
