Please introduce deserter penalty to casual games

So I just played for well over an hour after work, I won 1 game as crypto along with an awesome mirage, we owned and carried the 3rd doing my challenges, and I kept playing casuals.

Literally every other game besides that win, I had bad randoms who die and leave with 24 damage dealt, and I end up solo in all those games.

These people are toxic, they insist on playing Apex, only to find out that they suck and rage quit pretty much every game, as soon as things aren't working out for them.

Casuals are barely playable.

[EDIT]

I actually forgot to include an important clause. The bann timer for casual should be separate from ranked, and start with 5 minutes as well, but only increase with 5 minute stagnant increments, up to a maximum of one hour, and reset to 0 weekly.

This should strike the right balance making it forgiving enough for people to drop out for valid reasons, and not be hindered by a lasting bann that won't allow them to que the next time they log into the game. But bothering enough to whip habitual quitters in line.

@WingmannedbroWell Respawns netcode affects my enjoyment so if they don't want me rage quitting on their casual groups they should fix how their game works...er doesn't work for 15 ping.

Strange, I live very close to my data center, and I have 10 to 15 ping with no problems.

I only lagg out when I get someone on the squad who connected to european servers from accross the world.

During certain hours U.S. players attempt playing EU games when their que times increase at night.

@Wingmannedbro Oddly enough I get a much better experience connecting to the 40 ping option but it is still sub par.
  • @GRiPSViGiL some of us don't have servers and have to play with a 200ms ping...it really sucks. Why is there no African server?

@asukojo is it though? Normal game is easily the hardest game mode in this game. Ranked is easy compared to normal game unless you are predator.
  • @Wingmannedbro I will admit I abandon some games/players because the players are just bad gamers.

I’m not talking about being a bad player, i’m talking about being rude to the team. 99% of the time you’re the third person to the other 2 party. I’ve had so many rounds in which I down 2 people from a squad and the third gets me. They then revive their teammate, loot the death boxes and revive me. Leaving me with nothing. When people start doing that garbage I just run off solo or will leave the game.

Not a fan of people who don’t go by the revive, heal, loot. The loot hogs hust make me run off.
  • Hotdrop -> die -> leave -> repeat. That's how we all play solo casuals. if you don't like that, go play ranked - that mode is literally made to be the opposite of casual.

Or play with full squad. As a bonus, enemies will be full squads too, so the whole experience will be different.

P.S. If you want your 24 damage teammates to stay a bit, show some flashy badges and kill some ppl - they'll stay as long as you're entertaining enough to watch and are moving straight towards their banners (most likely they don't press shift and are constantly staring at your badges). I don't show my badges for that reason, but that's what I've noticed my badges are doing (surprisingly, the 28 elite streak badge seems to be very well regarded).

P.P.S. I find that the same effect works on me too - if I see 4k damage and 20 kill badges, I sometimes stay. Although the biggest factor in my case is my evaluation of how likely it is for me to be respawned within the next 60 seconds.

  • @Biochemikas  likewise, i'll stick around if my squad isn't hugging a rock in the middle of nowhere...staring intently at a medkit for 4 minutes before picking it up and looting the next item at an equally painful pace or just outright abandoning me because they can't make the banner recovery safely.

Either way standard should stay casual i guess, as you stated we do have ranked for tryharding.

@Biochemikas I never leave. I hate it when teammates quit early, especially when I end up in the last 2 squads and have to 1v3 or 1v2 or have daily challenges that involve teammates getting healed / phased / ziplined / revived / etc..

The leavers problem needs to be addressed in casual too, but not as harsh as in ranked.
  • @DoYaSeeMeNah, casual solo games are best left fast. Die -> leave -> new game. Nice and fast. With teammates leaving, it also gives me plenty of solo games - a big bonus (since they don't want to allow starting solo without teammates, I'll take what I can get 🙂 (hmm, based on my own comment, I should hide my banner to get even more solo games)).

It's really very easy to grab 2 people for a premade, when you want to play 3-man to the end. So there's really no need to interfere with the dynamics of the solo casual.

Well, casual would still be casual, no pressure to tryhard since your rating isn't on the line.

The only thing that would change is that habitually quitting out of games the instant someone goes down is being met with a mild consequence, but just harsh enough to get people to not constantly quit out of games.
