Power curve
When this game first launched the devs stated their balancing ideology was a "power curve". If you don't know what a power curve is, basically it is a few weapons/characters being clearly stronger than anything else. When this game launched you had Wingman, Peackeeper, and the R-99 as the meta, usually played as Wraith, Bangalore, and Lifeline.
The devs have since been moving away from this idea of power curve, which is good, when this game launched I said it was a bad thing. They just need to go a little further with it.
This recent patch helped to get away from power curve but also more towards power curve. 1 step forward 1 step back basically. New hop ups for the EVA and G7 to make them better, nerfs to guns like the R-99, etc.
Good changes, but there was also some bad changes. Namely the Charge Rifle, this gun was just a bad idea plain and simple. It makes DMRs and Snipers completely useless. It's has no bullet travel, or drop off. The guns design though is the problem, if it had bullet travel time or drop, it would make the gun effectively useless.
The EVA is still not nearly as good as the Peacekeeper, you can't effectively corner peek with the EVA, but you can with the Peacekeeper. The Peacekeeper's higher per shot damage, range even without the choke, and corner peeking potential, makes it just plain better than the EVA.
I also still feel the R-99 is still too good, at least compared to other SMG's. The prowler isn't bad with the hop up, but very bad without it. The alternator without the Disruptor rounds is basically useless and worse than the RE-45, a high ROF pistol.
The further we get away from Power Curve, the closer we get to balance. Which is obviously never a bad thing. Just my feedback for the recent patch. Love the new map, respawns are actuallly worth it, knockdowns still need some buffs to be useful. All in all a net positive I guess as an overall to everything in the patch.
