they did that with season 12 master badge just because they said ranked season 12 was easier but I'm gonna do it anyways lol This is just soooo wrong and broke.

Whats wrong with that approach ? Respawn clearly wanted it that way (i guess it was extensively tested by specialists ... lol)
Now you have 3 options (if your account doesnt get praised by the MM nor the pointsystem and you arent in a position to have a nice triple stack every time you want to play):
⚽ stay with your team of "concrete boots" (bcs the matchmaking still doesnt do competitive matchups, at least not for some of us) and you die place <10 and get minus 35 to 25 Points bcs hotdropharry thought of himself as John Rambo. YOu can even wipe out neary half the lobby and still get minus points
🏈 you are lucky to get a working team and get a WIN with around 300 points (while others get multiple thousands, but the system seems to prefer some people over others ... since its not really transparent how those multiple thousand points are based on).
🏀 you abandon the team at drop, rat yourself to at least 5th-2nd place which will give you a secure 100-180 LP every time, without having to tilt on your mates bcs they over-commited in a lobby where they dont belong in the 1st place ... for queue-times sake.
Now i ask you, are those 1XX Points more for Option Nr. 2 compared to Option No 3 worth the risk ? I dont think so ... - HappyHourSumwur3 years agoSeasoned Ace

Respawn seems hell bent on NOT giving the community what they want with Ranked. I just don't understand it.
Kills and assists should have base point values. You could even give points for revives and respawns. Placement should have a base value and also be a multiplier on kill points. Max points from high kill count and winning.
Seems simple to me but Respawn can't figure it out. - @asukojo I wonder if this is achievable with a fresher account (level 50)?
My suspicion is that the hidden MMR running in the background wasn’t s17 exclusive. Maybe it took into account Sweet’s last ranked season, or maybe it looks at the account as a whole— so even with minimal damage, the system is trying its best to get a pred back to where it thinks they should be.

@Axs5626Sxa5001from what i know the MMR was there from early on, i remember a post (idk if it was on twitter or somewhere else around season 6/7) where a respawn dev/official stated , that opening the MMR to the public eye would open the possibility for exploitation ... and that with older high matchcount accounts there might be issues regarding the MM calculation (which would explain quite some frustration of certain people here in the forums regarding the topic)
On the other side, if its hidden ... its open for manipulation through respawn ... - @r1ggedgame Right.
Well we know that MMR has existed for pubs since the update that introduced Duos as an LTM for Valentines Day (Feb 2020?), because that’s how sweaty pubs are made.
My question is, does that pre-existing MMR impact the MMR that’s currently being used for ranked? My gut tells me yes. - r1ggedgame3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Axs5626Sxa5001 didnt they mention in the blogpost that they want to have a general MMR that works for all the gametypes ? i thought i read smth like this. i guess that just the range will differ depending on queue length
This game can't get more casual than this. I wonder what were they thinking when they made the changes.

It's the same as fortnite now. Complete reset at the start of every season for everybody. I think it's a good thing. And you don't get fortnite pros whinging about it!
To be fair, strong players only had to get back a tier and a half to get back to where they were under the previous ranked system, which they would do easily. It's great for the casual player that the mmr will now takes the strong level player away from casual gamers quickly.
Thing is, can the strong player now hold onto that easily obtained new rank, playing against players of a similar level rather than constantly wiping the floor easily with casuals etc?
While they may choose to rat to get back their old rank quickly, that is a validation of a playing style. Also there is no more need for players to lose points with hot drop Henry, he can lose his own only.
I'm all for letting this go on and seeing what happens later in the season, hopefully the whinging will stop when the strong players realise that they have to play their own level of player and that their viewers can see the real talented ones emerging, ditching the obviously not so talented after all.. 🥳
