Ranked

Some people are just not built for talking to others and/or competitive environment.

Not sure though why you choose to even install BR game that kinda means both above... stick to single player / non-competitive / easy mode on games? :)

There are so many reasons why rank ladders are sewers, but you hit on a good one. If you're a solo player in a team-based game then a ranks are pretty much just there to taunt you. But even leaving aside the solo queue problem, why do so many people stand in line and **bleep** away weeks, months, YEARS of their lives just to be told, "Yeah, you're mediocre." ? I already know that. I don't need to waste my time and energy having the fact proven to me. Especially when, if you ask me, this game has a pretty narrow definition of skill that revolves mostly around mechanical abilities, even though those are hardly the only factor in the game, and even though they are the easiest ability in the game to cheat.

I'm fine in pubs.  Not sure why you have to play ranked to install a BR game.  Day 0 player, pretty sure I've got more matches than you.

Regarding number of games - can't see your stats, here are mine... not sure how it matters though.

As for my point - each game has its goal:
- sports sim
- racing
- shooter
- RPG
- logic/puzzle
- etc.

Sure you can install say Need for speed and say that you are not into racing rather arts / engineering and tinker only with cosmetics but it kinda defeats the purpose, I am sure there are better tools to do that than Need for speed. Same with Apex... many come to BR shoother with somewhat fast phase, chaotic environment, on average quite stressful environment to have fun, tinker with cosmetics, have "easy" games... I mean bot lobbies?

People are asking Apex to do what it is not suppose to be doing at its core. Same like buying used BMW and asking it to go as fast as newest Ferrari while having ride quality of Bentley...

Finally I am ok with multiple mods, I don't play them just ranked (99% of a time) -> at least don't come to forums and complain about ranked after 1 game... makes no sense :)

Player from the season Revenant, was introduced here (EdwardDLuffy on XBox). I prefer ranked, but for only for two reasons.

The first is your TMs are much less likely to quit once downed. Yesterday I had a game where I as DM completely f'ed up the landing and only one of us survived. Another game only one survived a hot drop. We ended up winning both games (as randoms) with full squads.

The second is that you're actually making progress. It's fairly easy to get to Gold, but then it's a bit more of a grind to get to Plat or Diamond, the latter being the highest rank I've ever achieved.

Pubs as a random you just get sweaty Wraiths or Octanes who land solo and quit once downed.

If comms are a problem, you can set all comms to 'friends only' by default (which includes text), which I did last year and something I wish I had done in 2021!

I just play pubs mostly and occasional mixtape to mix things up or practice a bit before pubs.

Oh, and it doesn't matter.  The point I'm making is I'm not exactly new and can install whatever game I want to play thanks.

I prefer comms to be honest but many people either don't say anything or chunter constantly/have music/screaming kids/other background noise that just deafens you.

Once in awhile you'll get that random who is communicative and a decent team-mate though.  Those games are great.

With ranked I was expecting tighter game play and team work.  And it's not (maybe it's because I'm low rank starting out again).  Stupid hot drops, landing on their own, people giving you abuse on mike because you don't feel the need to constantly 1v3 to save them, etc.  Experience was awful.  With pubs and crap randoms at least you can quit and go do something else; ranked you are penalised for getting these guys.  I'm not a fantastic player but I have some common sense.  I will never understand the appeal of places like Fragment over and over.

As for the point of the main post here and our previous discussion: sure people can do whatever they want, but the point is - don't come to forums and complain about game being too competitive or people talking via voice or people talking in language you don't understand...

As we all here just mentioned:
- it is nicer experience for us when people teamwork
- when teammates are goal / result oriented and team oriented vs "I get all the glory, you rat for me" type of games aka Fragement / hot droppers
- it is easier to play when people use voice comms
- when teammates don't quit, do their best and you come up with games you described (had one myself yesterday, wanted to quit, at the end managed to win and kinda pull most of the load)

To sum up: Apex is competitive BR game which should be for sweaty players mostly (ranked mode - only for such players) that requires constant communication and teamwork past X rank where you just can't do 1v3 on your own.

So as much as me as above mentioned player accept the fact that 2/3 of player base are not matching my expectations / game requirements, they should also accept the fact that they will eventually have hard time in this game when met with pressure from players that dedicate their time and effort to become better.

Unfortunately for business purposes Respawn decided to allow such different players to mix into the same lobby which creates tension, negative emotions, hopefully they will find better solution for it, until then there is no point imo in posts like this initial one "ranked sucks, game is too hard, people talk too much".

If, as you state, the game was just for "Sweats" it would go broke pretty quick.  The game needs casuals like me (although I do play a lot, I'm hardly in a top bracket... It's taken me years to get to a average level of play [1.22 KD which is nothing to write home about given how long I've played]).  But I'm also an older gamer (54) and the learning curve for me is higher than most people as I wasn't born with a controller in my hand and the chaos on the screen bewilders me sometimes and I become disoriented (can't figure out where stuff is coming from even with the red arrow).

You're not wrong about the mix in lobbies.   I am sure they are doing the best with match making but, to be fair, they can only work with what's in front of them at the time (if there are mostly sweats on late at night, that's what I'll get).  I've played some games with friends who are pretty high level (Masters and the like) and it's a totally different world to me where mistakes simply can't be made.  I do ok sometimes but usually I get rolled pretty quick.  When I play with people more my level it's usually not a bad mix but we'll always end up in some horrific lobbies or get ranked (in the skill spread graph) rock bottom over and over again which is frustrating.

The point I was making with ranked was 1) Just blowing off some steam as it was really frustrating and 2) it's just always a crap experience.

Someone in this thread mentioned it's basically like pubs at the level I'm at (I'm Bronze III or something, I have not played loads) and I think he's probably right.  Until you get to higher level games it's not really going to be all that different which is a fair point and certainly matches what I have observed.  Not sure I can be bothered to grind higher but maybe in the next season split I'll consider it.  

Ideally you'd want to go into that mode with a pre made squad but the people I play with aren't really interested and those I know that do play ranked seriously are so much better than me it would not really be fair on them to carry me constantly (or a good experience for me).

Oh RE: The foreign language thing.  It's not the language that was spoken, it was the fact he did not shut up the entire time.  I mean literally was talking the entire time, never shut up once.  Not sure of the value in that even if you did understand it.  Maybe he was having a conversation with someone else in the room with him but if it was that there wasn't much in the way of 2 way communication.
