So I guess the answer to your initial question is: no level, leveling up doesn’t do anything except give you cosmetics and more characters

Anyway, are you guys absolutely sure that level has no bearing at all on stats?  I guess I am doing more damage then because I have been spending an hour in the firing range everyday the past few months I've been playing.

Dying after only 1 to 3 hits is pretty much normal for me, it is hard to do strafing on the switch because of the gyroscope, I am hoping to learn how to hide behind things better and learn to jump and run since I can't afford to get hit even once or twice.  I'd like to start doing team play again once I get more practice, but the no fill duos have been fun.

Has the company ever given confirmation that leveling up does not affect.

I am just fed up with this.  I took a picture of the death summary just now so I can prove it.  I had purple armor on and a blue helmet and this guy killed me with one hit, it even says "killed in one hit" on the death summary.  

Is this just allowed now in the game?  One person said earlier it was cheaters and smurfs (whatever Smurf means, I guess it's some kind of hacker or cheater).  This has happened to me three matches in a row tonight and the game is now unplayable.

I have worked hard the past few months leveling up, learning controller movement tech from videos, and spending an hour a day in the firing range doing pro exercises from the videos.  If there is no way to even fight someone in the game then this has been for nothing.  The guy that killed me, I watched him and so many machine gun shots were hitting him his shield lit up like a damn disco dancefloor and he didn't die at all.  I say either make everyone in the game this strong or ban people from using these hacks.

There is no way to even report this since they did away with the report button.  So, I do not even see a reason to keep playing this game, I basically got as far as a player that's not in this secret hacker club named after a bad 80s cartoon can get.

Also, what are the shield meters for if it just takes your whole meter if under 3 hits anyway, a majority of the time one hit like tonight.  Very few times I can survive three hits with purple armor, but even purple armor did no good tonight?  This is an issue that needs to be addressed.  Also, where can I send the picture to that I took of the guy's account info that killed me with one hit?  

This game has grown on me and I hate to have to uninstall it, but I'm getting bored of hiding in buildings running from people when I can't fight back, and if I try it's instant death.  I want to be able to test out the skills I learned on the firing range, but there is no way too since you can hit a player 20 times and do less than 100 damage, but they take all your health with one hit or even one punch no matter your armor color.  If EA and Respawn are aware of this and are keeping the game going just so people who hack the game can play then they must have lots of money to just throw away.  This could be a popular game, the best on the market if it got fixed, they are sacrificing millions of dollars to probably make a few thousand.

I would be happy to accept that the players that killed me tonight have a higher level than me and I'll get there eventually, but if that isn't true according to what people said in this thread then there is something very wrong here with this game.  I'll probably quit and maybe just play a few times a month for comedic value to run and hide in buildings, but I see no reason to keep developing my skills and learning from the pros now.

Level is only an indication of how much time and self loathing you have invested in the game.

You are dying all the time because the matchmaking is designed to feed you (a Type 4 or 5, to be determined) to the Type 1 and 2 players. The game is not the product. You are. You are content for the Streams of Type 1 and 2 players, and thus free advertising for the game.

Also, you're trying to play it on a freaking Nintendo Switch, against people using PS4/5, XBox One, PC, etc. That's like trying to get into competitive League of Legends on a PC from 2007. Literally 80% of the posts I have seen from you here is how entire parts of the game just don't work for you on the switch. Do you really hate yourself that much to keep doing this?

You are correct,  the switch is the problem.   I'm investing in a better system next payday.  I see those people on YouTube playing it on switch, but now that I think about it, I notice while providing video content, they never actually win anything or even make any kills, some rack up damage, but it is their teammates (that they know in real life, not randoms) doing most of the work and their squad loses in the end anyway.   The gyroscope is supposed to get rid of recoil, but perfect aim is no good if you cannot even see your opponent because of the 20 fps, or have the other problems also mentioned here.

I did quit a while ago. Uninstalled from PC. Barely play on PS4 (and it only stays installed there because my kid still plays it here and there, but he also plays far less since Arenas went away).

Anyone that knows me around here knows this. Pay attention before you spread clearly inaccurate information.

I'm only here for Lore and the hopes they give me something Single Player in the Titanfall Universe again. Because the movement and gunplay is fun. The fact that it's PvP only is not.

- hang on, I thought sbmm was there to prevent this? So either sbmm works or it does not. Last time I checked it worked by protecting current Rookie players from Preds, like you want. So which is it? You can't have both. If the game was designed to feed bad players to good players we would not see high level players complain about the MM being constant sweat. Nor would my kid be getting killed on his Level 200 account by the same. Plenty of people think my model is correct.

What about the average player? That's still a huge skill gap not to cover. If sbmm only protects a player long enough for them to get a couple hours of game play under their belt then it's a * system.
It's been a well known issue for a while now that sbmm doesn't protect its players at all.

And what was that about higher skilled players complaining about their matches being too hard? As if they have some sort of right to stomp on players far below their skill level because they're good at the game? That's not how good sbmm works. But with apex, that's exactly what it does.

SBMM protects noobs for a little while, but not for very long, IMO. As an average , solo queue player myself, I can say that SBMM feeds me to better players 90% of the time. I'm cannon fodder.

Level is only related to how much you play. Skill is only indirectly related in so much as time helps you get better (it does but everybody is different that way). I've played a lot (too much, honestly) and am average. You know a good player when you see one and I see plenty of smurfs out there as proof of that.

Ok, first off eomm is not proven. And 2nd everyone on here is always quick to say level don't matter, nor kills, nor any stat really. So ummm which is it? You seem upset when playing against a person with better stats yet the stats don't matter? Hmm. Those models are made up and not based on any real world stats or data and you know it. Forum think this. 

And bro you can stop that victim stuff "about me and recon". There is no agenda, I simply happen to not agree with you and I regularly see this copy pasta reply about types and what not. It's simply not true. If it was no one and I mean no one would succeed ever. How would you get better if constantly fed to someone better? Makes no sense at all. The closest argument I can see for this type of system being remotely true is big spending. No company wants to lose big spenders..so game adapts, but that's not what you're saying.

 Considering Apex likes to pit me and many people like me against players of diamond or higher skill..I'd say apex is pretty loose as it is, more so than fortnite. 

Apex's sbmm can never be decent, because even if they do manage to get a good one in place, they allow it to be ruined by all the smurfs running around in the game.
Fortnite doesn't allow such a thing. So for as loose as it may be, everyone is still getting accurately placed.

It isn't protection in the slightest if you can just by pass it by making a new account.

Heh.. Vastly outnumber your own? Do you even play it? You could run into peeps with 20% win rates vs 3% easily. Same with any other stat. 50 victory crowns vs 0 etc. Their key to success is variance aka less sbmm instead of more. More mm=more sweat in every lobby. Apex community does not grasp this simple idea but they want the opposite... But what you said.. That's just like your opinion man 🙂 and I'm not gonna discuss it further as I know it would lead to a circular argument.

Okay, I feel better now.

I've flirted enough with lobbies that were over my head - probably no where near master or pred, but still nothing I wanted any part of. And while I don't make a habit of watching streamers, I've seen enough of them to know that if I ever even suspected players of that calibre in one of my lobbies, that would be an instaquit. Thanks anyway, Respawn.

Yes... AND no. It certainly doesn't mean MORE wins. Or MORE kills. Yes, it means working for your achievements, whatever form they may take, and that's no different than it should be. What I think would be less likely to happen, what I think people are on about when they champion tighter matchmaking, is this: Getting killed by a guy of roughly my own skill is acceptable. Getting beamed by the minimum number of bullets from a wingman by a player who is 150m away - this is not someone who is of average skill. And while there are players who are capable of doing that without cheating, if they're in my lobby it's easy to jump to the conclusion that they're a cheater. Or that they never should have been in that match to begin with. So I guess what I'd say is that it isn't the kills themselves - it's the nature of the kills that result from wide-gap matchmaking. I personally don't care for it, but I'm up for ALMOST anything Respawn wants to try, sbmm-wise.

Yes, I play it. I played it last night to be exact. Got a win the first match I loaded up and the players I went against weren't much more skilled than I was.

Question is: a tighter sbmm is supposed to make it so lobbies are more evenly matched correct?
So if apex's sbmm is actually tighter than fortnite's, why is the skill of the players I run into in fortnite, closer to my own than this * show of sbmm that apex has?
Why is it, when I go into matches I'm getting roasted by lvl 42 smurfs AND level 400 diamond or platinum players? How is that remotely considered tight??

I don't mind a little variation of the players I'm going against, what I do mind is going against a team of smurfs and diamond players I have no business being in lobbies with.

I'm not always going to be the top player in the lobby, nor should I be, but I shouldn't be going against people who have 3k in kills on one legend, let alone the number of combined kills they may have. 

Too tight or too loose, either way apexs mm is trash and needs to be fixed.

@XxColdFangxXok bro, I see you are still either in denial or just ignorant of how fortnite works. In my lobbies I can literally meet anyone from 0 to hero. This is a known thing. It's what makes the game accessible and fun. With a 100% perfect mm you have a 50/50 chance to win a 1v1 with same armour, guns and attachments? So even if it works you would still say it doesn't, just because the dice roll didn't roll in your favour. Tbf apex just stands as a trash game overall when we start to pick it apart....

My game play has always been different from what you describe on fortnite. 

So idk what to tell you there. 

I play fortnite just as casually as apex, yet it's always been a much better experience for me.
