Re: Can i get banned for using the 120 fov ?

@void7520Any altering cfg style and such can lead to a ban and it is a use-at-your-own-risk ordeal.

If in-game settings do not allow those changes then they were not meant to be changed outside their allowed range.

  • Any reason why you can alter CFG files? If it’s a source of potential cheats like automation of some movement techniques then why is it still allowed?

@Cheese9Man Windows programmers used .ini files (initialization files) for configuration back in my day. It was much easier to tweak the settings. However if the program is correctly made, the config or ini file cannot surpass the settings of the software or hardware. e.g. If there is an entry for "Frames per Second" and you set the value 9000, the first stop should be in the client.
    If fps > 400 then fps = 400
The next stop would be your hardware saying, "Yeah I will get right on that as soon as buy a much better graphics card. Until then, here is your 20 fps from the motherboard loser.". lol
While FOV doesn't depend on the GPU all that much the line in the client should exist telling the client that the FOV is set too high. However this could also alert the anti cheat system to report the user for changing the settings.

While I don't believe it is possible to use the cfg files to cheat Apex. There is nothing "fool proof" in software. Today's cheaters are now using laptops running the cheat software while playing the game on a separate clean system. As I have said many times before, one only ends up cheating themselves out of honest wins and the feeling of true victory.
