@Cheese9Man or a recolor of it might have been easier still.
- @OldTreeCreeper A recolor would still make people cry saying that they’ve missed it when it was on sale but being part of the normal pool would make it available 365 days a year just like the wingman pay to win skins.
- @Cheese9Man That is actually a better way to fix it and won't require that much effort on their part too. They should just do this instead of screwing over people who bought and worked for the Flatline skin.

I am curious as to what this change could be bad? This giant gap in the optics truly served no purpose nor did it affect the skin it self which is what people wanted to buy. I don't think the optics alone is why it was purchased. (Not at all knocking those who did not want the change) Just more so trying to understand why removing a useless gap that served no purpose is such a bad thing.
As for the skin where the upper walls was removed I do not find this to be a bad thing. Remember how bad those walls affect the car. This grants over all better views with no objects interfering with the view one can see.
For me, the issue is not with changing the iron sights. My issue is the fact they feel they can change it without repercussion.
This entire thing screams anti-consumer to me.
These are the types of practices that are letting down modern gaming, and I feel like if we keep letting this stuff slide, then gaming as a whole is going to get worse and worse.
The past five years have been so terrible for the gaming industry; Anthem, Cyberpunk, Diablo Immortal, Marvels avengers....These games promised a finished, functioning product or stated no micro transactions/predatory practices would be included. Cyberpunk should never have been released, Anthem was staged release on how rich you are IRL, Diablo Immortal is Diablo immortal and Avengers flipped their promise of no microtransactions immediately.
I know the above are from different studios and not all in EA/Respawn control, but that doesn't mean that Respawn shouldn't be held accountable for anti consumer practices either.
People have already outlined its a cash grab move, nothing to do with integrity, or its just bowing to newcomers who would rather have played warzone/fortnite/pubg than see how cool Apex was.
So in short, for me, i'm just pissed about the anti consumer practices of it all.I bought a product, a purchase agreement was completed, you are modifying my product after the fact. No bueno.
- DankToliet4 years agoSeasoned Ace@DethMetalMilkMan It's screams bowing to newcomers, that need an excuse for their bad performance. Maybe if the 1x scopes zoomed in the same as iron sights certain "p2w" skins wouldn't be as popular.
These "part timers" that got this canceled act like we were actually keeping iron sights over bruisers and 3x scopes. These same people are going to dip out for MW2 this November or the next big BR. While the people who paid and earned this skin remain here, screwed over because of bandwagoners.
I honestly don't even use the Flatine in general, I'm more upset that Respawn is catering to players that didn't support them. Certain things aren't attainable to new customers, shoot you can't even get my cell phone plan ANYWHERE, I've had it for so long they grandfathered my plan they still HONOR it. I feel that this is getting into pearl-clutching territory. The issue around the Flatline is clearly centered around obtainablity. Of all the weapons that have skins with superior iron sights, it is the only one that has no craftable version with equivalent sights. Anyone who wants nicer sights on an R99 can freely craft Zero Point or its many recolors. There are no unobtainable skins for the Wingman or PK that have better sights, their superior versions have always been craftable.
EDIT I do wonder a bit about Teal Zeal and Slayer's Lancer and whether they might get the knife.
- DankToliet4 years agoSeasoned Ace@pandareno1999 It would only be "fair" to get Teal Zeal and Lancer next.
- @DankToliet I reckon it will depend on just how protracted the backlash is over the present nerf. My opinion for the time being is that Respawn was in this case specifically looking to end the constant whining from the player base about not being able to get the S4 Flatline skins. Obviously the given reason of "competitive integrity" is a bit disingenuous, as many people have already posted about.
I'd be very, very surprised if this leads to changes to craftable skins. And I only see the afore-mentioned Flatline skins being changed if the bitter backlash is protracted and the other skins are brought up as talking points in highly visible discussions on social media. @pandareno1999Slayers lancer has better irons? I only use it because it's the sexiest gun skin in the game......that I immediately slap a sight on.
As for the rest, people need to get real lives and have real problems and challenges.
- @hayhor Yes, it does! Not nearly as good as Heat Sink, but a definite minor improvement. I always refused my bud's offers to reskin my Flatline because I'm so used to Slayer's already. When he dropped one, I could get a nice little rise out of him by mentioning that I was reskinning it to SL lol.
@Cheese9Man I should have been clearer following on from your point, that I meant a recolor in the normal pool, so that people who already have the og skin, to be fair, could choose to get another skin too. 😃
- @E9ine_AC the optics are why people get these types of skins. I don't own the heat sink, but I would take that over any other flatline skin because of its visibility/less visual clutter. When you're in ADS, you can see the target and nearby surrounding better.

So in short, for me, i'm just pissed about the anti consumer practices of it all. What’s anti consumer is for them selling another skin with the same iron sights.”Oh you need to buy this new skin now with a pay to win iron sights before it goes away from the store!” I get it changing something we all bought is not a good thing but I disagree with Respawn did this to be anti-consumer.
@Cheese9Man After some days to consider, I have two basic theories they did this. One is complaints from high level players who either switched from console to PC after S4 or simply started playing Apex since. And the other is that people who have the skins generally never buy any other Flatline skins. Also I think it was done because they were thoroughly tired of hearing people never shutting up about wanting the skins re-released.
- @pandareno1999 I'd guess it's the second one. People that believe that skin actually gives them an advantage will never ever buy another skin.

People that believe that skin actually gives them an advantage will never ever buy another skin.I did not play this game yet in S4, but my buddy informs me that part of the advertising for the S4 battle pass was something along the lines of "the last Flatline skin you'll ever need!"
@pandareno1999It was so people would buy the newer skins. They basically admitted this in the notes. Basically anyone who had that skin wouldn't be interested in any other skin which didn't have those optics. I don't believe pay to win exists here, but those optics did feel better. Same with the optics on the Peacekeeper, it won't change your kd but Old Blue for eg does feel better to use in comparison to the default sight. A bit late to claim the change was for balance though, which they also stated... I'm not for this change, seems unfair to take something away like that after so long. And like the title suggests, if they can change this, what's to stop them changing other skins (or things) like Zero point or any of the others..?
- @pandareno1999 That would be some memory if he remembers that from Feb, 2020. I started looking just to see and I found it super funny that both of the skins people talk about as P2W have sights on them in the trailer, the flatline even has the crappy 1x2.

I do not even see mention of it here: https://www.ea.com/en-gb/games/apex-legends/media-hub/media/apex-legends-season-4-assimilation-battle-pass-overview-trailer-gb

EDIT Remember the Airdrop Escalation LTM? The one where they gave you a 1x2 on everything including shoguns?? Oh man Respawn loves that sight.
As a full-BP4 owner, I'm very glad to let new players have access to this good skin, or Respawn may just design a new free skin or normal pool skin that has this iron sight. But that will lead to a situation that fewer players will buy new Flatline skins, like now, many new players just choose wait for the recolor Heatsink rather than buying new Flatlines skins. I think you know what I mean.
- @pandareno1999 That sight is way underrated, it's great! Best sight by far aside from the red dot 1x.
- @pandareno1999 Your friend needs to study your sights impact on your game. 🤣
It looks like quite a number of sights have been changed today. Spitfire and Hemlok now have larger circles. The older PTW Wingman skin (not the craftable ones) has been nerfed a bit.Lone Star irons have been nerfed. Just a couple i can think of off the top of my head. I need to see some side-by-sides to be sure.
My bud is still upset about the Flatline changing, but having seen it we both agree that the change is not that bad.
I'm going to spend some quality time in the galleries and the range to see what else may have changed, I was too busy playing the morning to do much. I expect that Mokey and others like TGM will soon release videos showing side-by-sides for everything.
EDIT To my eye it looks like the risers on Death Ray etc. are taller than they were before. I'm not feeling super sure on this one, but it appears different to my eye without the benefit of a side-by-side comparison.
