Existing functionality is broken after software change, this means the regression test didn't cover this scenario.

Hate this question:  How you missed it?

1. When I test internally, I can only play with internal team member, since we can't expose new things to random people.

2. All internal team members are in the friend list.

3. That's why we didn't catch this bug.

What is the solution then ?

Consider add existing & basic functionalities as part of regression suite or automated it.

Note:

I know it's easy to talk than to do it, since I'm QA myself, I know it's a lot of works to automated things,

but it will be good investement in the long run.
