Re: No aim assist

Honestly, I play controller on PC and I can't see any aim assist. At least compared to what I am used to in Destiny 2.

Nothing seems to pull my aim anywhere with anything. Except downed shields, I can always find those stupid things.

When I still cared to play Crucible, I could land head shots hip firing scout rifles across the map. With hand cannons or Dead Man's Tale it is even easier. (Remember - I admittedly suck at FPS games)

That is why the joke is that the PvP meta will never leave Hand Cannons and Shotguns. The shotguns ALSO get aim assist (to a lesser degree) but with a really wide spread. The pellets just basically cease to exist past 12 meters. That and their maps are all doors and corners and it really makes for a boring, "Dead 2 seconds past re-spawn to shotgun ape" meta.

That's one of the things that drew me to Apex even though I usually hate FPS PvP. As someone who owns real shotguns, it's nice to see a game with a more realistic shot range and damage on them. The pattern entropy is impossibly consistent, but I'd rather range and damage be more real than the randomness of the shot pattern.

  • @Kyldenar  0.4 AA is certainly present in your gameplay and you may not feel it as you're accustomed to it, but it is definitely helping in your CQB scenarios.

It's definitely not the god tier game changer certain individuals like to proclaim it to be lol, however it can't be denied that it is doing something to help controller users either.

@sbr-saber  People will take your opinion more seriously if you don't try and demean others, not cool mate.

  • Why is it that everytime there’s a discussion on this topic, there’s a need to throw insults at other members then get suprised that a mod warns them about it? It’s like those threads where they were suprised why they got banned after saying immature slurs in apex.

Destiny 2 has aim assist that is game breaking, if see almost nooone on PC play pvp if they dont have controller connected.

Aim assist in apex work very differently from the crazy destiny thing 🙂 and its very very tunable to your liking, I personally think the default setup is nothing special, I would tinker and see if you can find a good personal setup that fits you 😉 But I cant say I ever snap aimed with controller when I used it though only got sensitivity change based on my config, this is insanely nice in cqc and ok on distance not as good as a mouse on distance but good enough. The balance is one trumps the other in each scenario which I personally think is a cool twist and I can personally say, I do feel that thing in arenas daily, arenas seem to be controller central hehe.

Maybe that's why I don't see anything. I am using pretty much default except I change look and aim look to high from defualt. I try not to futz with controls to games too much from default, so that if something happens and settings are wiped, it's easy to remember and restore to what I had. (Looking at you Guild Wars 2 where my near 40 custom keyboard binds got lost one day and I basically had to re-learn the game)

So, maybe I am not as terrible as I thought if the default aim assist setting is lower than what it can be maxed out to.

Its the same with mnk, you can't just copy someone else's sensitivity, it's insane when you think about it

You clean up you place and run best approx calc to find a sensitivity that fit you mouse, your space, your body and your mousemat. It's a long process to get just right but we'll worth it. Same with controller, it's a bit more hit and miss to get just right darn it's worth it

That all sounds like work and voodoo. I'm a casual player, will never play ranked, so I think I'll just keep working with what I have and know.

No voodoo just a more scientific approacth to getting something that really works and increase your enjoyment. 🙂

@Kyldenar Don't sweat it man. While ALC is quite popular, there are plenty of top players who use classic response curve like you.

I don't intend to ever be top. I'm casual and I know it.

Would not play at all if it wasn't for the tie to Titanfall setting and me really wanting a 3rd single player game in that setting. Outside of Guild Wars 2 WvW, I avoid PvP like the plague in most things. I am too old to care about digital competition. I got other real crap to compete in (like my real trap shooting league, still chasing that perfect 25/25 score).

  • @hayhorYou heard wrong. Depends on the platform and it's what shooters should be imo. Buttery smooth imo. Try it and see for yourself.  Free game.

@The65thCavalryI don't know what it is tho, I've tried to see what makes it feel so different and I'm not noticing any aim assist mechanic, at least on pc. But all I can say is that if I click on someone's head the bullet actually lands there. I suspect weapons are hit scan which it should be in every game imo, also movement is less twitchy so aim works a little different or smoother at least. Unlike in Apex where you need to deal with bullet speed, bullet drop, stupid recoil patterns etc. You'd think that a game that uses cartoon characters would not need such a "realistic"
approach to their guns yet here we are. The more difficult they can make it to play the longer people will keep playing. And it's far from realistic to be fair - no way in hell a couple of meters is gonna make a difference to bullet drop and accuracy in real life - total BS money making, difficulty inducing mechanic. Not to mention guns having the same recoil pattern over and over..it's just rediculous really.
