Re: Now you've MAX OUT Battle Pass, do you BUY the S7 BP ?

@asukojo

Well, I mean, you should buy it if you put the work in.

I did eventually, as well. I think I bought it around when the free pass stops giving you a reward after every level. Somewhere in the 40s or 50s. I forgot which.

At that point, I bought it, because I knew I could finish it. But, unlike S6, I didn't buy it Day 1, because I wasn't sure how messed up this new system would be. And it turns out, it's pretty messed up. I'm still not 100% happy with it for reasons I've mentioned on this forum multiple times.

As far as battle passes go in the future, I'm not sure. If we go into S8 and this system is exactly the same, then I know for sure I won't buy the pass right away. The reason is I am not really sure if I'd be able to finish it.

It's not even about having the time to play, it's about not having the want. This system really enforces daily play and challenge completion. Both things I'm just not too thrilled about. As far as daily play goes, some days I just don't want to do so. I want to do other things than play Apex (shocker, I know). And it feels like this game really punishes me for that now, and it sucks. And as far as the challenges go, because the system is so challenge heavy, I feel like every time I complete a match and don't Make progress on a challenge (For whatever reason), I'm not making any significant progress on my battle pass, which also feels discouraging.

These things just make the new system feel like a slog and I don't like them. I prefer the old system, because it was much more XP oriented. The challenges just felt like a nice addition to the progress I was already making. because every match, no matter how long or how short, would give me XP and therefore would be some sort of progress toward a battle pass level (Especially, with the 9/18/27/36/45/54 XP system). But with the Star system always taking 10 Stars/50K XP per level, once you run out of challenges to do, the grind is real. And it just doesn't feel good.

So, yeah. While I bought the pass and finished this season, I have no idea if I'll be doing so in season 8. Not if the system stays this way without any more tweaks. And the reason why, is all the stuff I mentioned above. But, that's just me. Everyone has their own opinion on this matter. I know that.

@JonStriker126 I'm on the same boat. BP is like a chore to me, aka full time job ! ☹️

I've to wake up early morning 6:30 am and play for 1 hour everyday.

My wife is NOT happy with that so I don't think I can continue this leveling up on S8 anymore.

Can you please pass Jon feedback to dev and please ask them to adjust it for S8 ?

Yeah. And it's not like I think the system should be changed dramatically. At this point, it feels like it's pretty stable. It's mostly my issue of when you're kind of punished for not playing daily, and any play after completing challenges feels like an uphill battle. Or, if you're unable to complete challenges the XP grind feels crazy, all the time.

I think what they could do to help alleviate some of that, is change how much XP it takes for a star, and therefore for a battle pass level. Maybe make it 2,500 XP per 1 Star. Or keep it at 5,000 XP, But have it award 2 stars instead. Or, even make the Star per XP system "sliding" like the old system did with XP levels. Like, maybe make the first 5,000 XP of the week worth five stars, Then four, then three, then two, then one. So, at the very least, you get a nice little burst at the beginning, and then it settles to the one star per 5,000 XP ratio that we have now.

I think any of these changes or something similar, could go a long way into making the progression feel better. The reason I say this, is during the double XP week, I actually felt really good with the pass. The challenges were feeling better, the XP per Star ratio felt good, things like that.

I honestly think just tweaking some of the XP values would go a long way into improving the current system. But that's just me.

@asukojoIt really dont need adjusting. I got friends who maxed that thing in few weeks of season being open while olympis was the main map. It is not hard remotely or a huge time sink. People just use to them just pretty much handing them rewards with crazy easy leveling where it took me around 5-7 days total to finish the thing. Even now i find it way to fast. I finished a long time ago what do i do now? Im bored i hardly been logging in i have absolutely nothing to do to work towards. Same as every other season never a thing to do.

How much Apex would you say you play per day, on average? And do you play daily?

@TheRealJayDee1 Well better way to actually better scale it is games played. I am at 1,143 games played this season. Which is not a lot considering another season i put in over 7k.

So it took me roughly 900 games to actually finish battle pass from level 1-110 i do not find this hard even for a casual player of 900 games in a season.
  • @E9ine_AC Okay, I see, that's actually interesting. That'd be roughly 300 matches a month. With, idk, say, an average of 10 minutes per match that'd be around 50 hours a month. I definitely don't get anywhere near that anymore. And 7k matches a season? Damn, I'm not quite sure I've played that many in total.

The thing is, for me the motivation to try is really suffering from the removal of the '9k/18k/27k/etc' and 'complete 5/10 dailies' systems. With those in place I could always get 5-7 levels a week just from playing one longer session and 1-3 short ones, which I mostly managed to fit in. Combined with the weekly challenges that was enough to comfortably get me through the BP. Nowadays I mostly just play 2-3 short sessions a week, because I feel I won't make it anyways.
