Re: the aim assidt for pc needs to be the same as it is for the console.

@Asmodeus566
I also thought the lobbies between the two were already separated unless you invited a friend on a different platform to come play.
So long as I can still invite friends from other platforms to play with me I don't see a problem with separate lobbies, I'm not about to buy a pc for that.

@XHelperZ

Not sure, but I'm starting to get the feeling that mnk pc players are complaining about other pc players using controllers and not necessarily console players because of the above message to Asmodeus. I keep hearing how the lobbies are already separated (though I honestly doubt it)

That is not a separation. 90% of the games I play have console players in the PC lobby I am in and I would assume vs versa as well.

    from your link:

How to enable Apex Legends crossplay

Crossplay is enabled by default in Apex Legends, so you won’t need to worry about fiddling with settings to play with friends online. However, Apex Legends crossplay will only kick in when you’re playing with a friend on a different platform. In other words, if you’re flying solo and you’re on PC, you’ll only be matched with players on PC to keep things fair.

I have played with friends all three of us PC players and we do play vs console players when you see the champ sqd listed you can see PC tower, PS/Xbox controller and then the PC tower again . From what I can tell that's two PC players and a console player. Same happens when I am Flying solo.

  • @Asmodeus566
Of course you stop at the first paragraph. Keep reading
"When it comes to matchmaking, there’s a few rules to Apex Legends crossplay. If a party consists of only PC players, they’ll only be matched with PC players. The same is true for console players, who’ll only be matched with fellow console players.
In the event of mixed parties, matchmaking will always place them in lobbies with PC players"

So yes they are seperated, but when someone has a friend from another console on their team, they're getting put in PC lobbies.

I run solo pretty much all the time and the only icons I see are either Xbox or the TV with a controller.

yep I just read that last.

"In the event of mixed parties, matchmaking will always place them in lobbies with PC players."

And that is why I am seeing console players in my lobby. So that really doesn't change what I said in fact it just emphasizes what I mean.

Of course I was wrong about Console players having to complain all that much about PC players in their lobby because they chose to play that way. Sorry for the assumption there, my mistake.

Why not completely separate the lobbies?

  • @Asmodeus566
That still kind of sucks for the pc players that don't want that.
Why don't they just put mixed teams in their own lobby?

Superb idea. That would just make way to much sense.

I gather the reasoning behind it all is, Crossplay players ply vs crossplay first, then if the lobbie is full or there is not enough they get rolled over to PC. Due to the fact that speed of MM is top priority and not per se balance same as why pred level players are matched against lower level type players in pubs just not enough to go around.

It is sorta split but not really and PC players cannot turn off Crossplay we are forced to play crossplay whether we like it or not. Console players can turn it off but when they do it takes ages for them to find a match.

  • @Asmodeus566
And if console turns it off which we have to do in console settings not via the game, we can't find any matches.
I'm sure people would be willing to wait a little bit longer for a preferred lobby.

    @XxColdFangxX

part of the problem lies within how the MM is done and crossplay features.

Crossplay is atomatically enabled on console. You have to make the extra step to turn it off and nobody does that. Because if they do they find no lobbies.

PC cannot opt in or out they are automatically in crossplay.

Crossplay toggle switch needs to be added for PC to turn on or off. Default setting is off and must be manually changed to on to enable it.

I think that the Crossplay button for consoles needs to have the setting changed to be in a default off setting and have to be turned on to enable it.

So as it stands right now probably 95% of the players if not more have crossplay enabled whether they like it or not, due to the default settings.

I would def wait a little longer for my preferred lobby in that case.

  • @Asmodeus566
Yeah the option to turn it on and off should always be available no matter what you're playing on.
I don't mind having mine on, wether I'm in a pc or console lobby I'm still trash so I know when they're complaining about AA it isn't me XD

I agree same thing here I am sure the console players have seen my movement and thought I was a console player looting a deathbox and no way a MnK player. My movement is trash.

So I guess we could agree on the following.

Crossplay should be if it were to stay (prob will):

By default be turned off for console and PC.

Both PC and console have the option to turn it on.

    If Crossplay is turned on:

All players that have it enabled will play in crossplay only matches.

    If Crossplay is turned off:

PC players that have it turned off will play in PC only lobbies.

Console players that have it turned off will play in console only matches.

    Thanks for the great conversation.

@Asmodeus566 So you'd make it so a console player cannot play with a PC friend? No thanks. I enjoy playing with PC people I know.

    @hayhor

No that is not what I am really getting at here.

Crossplay should be a choice and players playing with crosplay enabled should be in only crossplay enabled lobbies.

PC players should be able to turn crossplay off on PC and should not have to play with Console players.

This would not be something hard for EA to do and would not cut into player experience and would then also settle the AA arguments etc as it would be a choice.

@Asmodeus566 I'm all for choice but having crossplay off by default would segregate everyone and make the MM struggle even more. I fully believe they removed crossplay as an option for PC because if this.

I'm thankful Apex doesn't do crossplay like other games where they mix by input. Warzone is horrific due to mixing all the PC cheating into console lobbies.

@hayhor Warzone is horrific because it's Call of Duty based, which has always been well marketed Bro-Trash.

As mentioned only the console players truly as an option to opt-out of crossplay. Console players playing with their own platform until they have partied with a PC user and they are thrown into PC lobbies. The system is not set up for PC players to be in console lobbies. If they do they have found an exploit to allow this. PC once had an opt-out option when it first launched. Then it was quickly removed. Thus leaving no option to keep things on an even leveling field playing against our own platform.

I played about 25-30 matches yesterday and every single time I'm killed it's by a console/pc friend and typically it's the console that deletes me in milliseconds. Not one game yesterday did I die to an actual PC player.

My biggest gripe on crossplay is I believe if they do choose to enter our lobbies their aim assist needs to be lowered to the set amount for controller users on PC. .4 across the board. If they choose to stay in their own lobbies then they have their .6 back. That to me would just be the risk of them coming to our lobbies. the FPS difference already can cause advantages or disadvantages for either party which should not be a thing in a competitive scene. Either allow us to have an option to opt-out or lower AA if in PC lobbies to PC levels IMO.

I feel your pain, and this is pretty much what I mentioned earlier on.

It is happening to me as well and I am sure a lot of other PC users that are forced into playing Crossplay are experiencing this.

  • @E9ine_AC
Please take note that as a console player, when I play with a pc friend, I don't get to pick which lobby I go to. The way they have it set up, forces me into your pc lobbies.
Imo they need a lobby for mixed teams, that way no one has to play with a platform they don't want to.
It might increase waiting times a bit, but I'm sure people would be happy to wait for a preferred lobby.
If not I'm sure they can implement a lobby timer that will start the match even if the lobby isn't full and the uncomplete team can either be requed or given the option to join the match anyway.

Aim-assist could be equal for controller users on console and PC but only as long as MnK users are separated. This would make crossplay much fairer. The only difference then (between controller users on console and controller users on PC) would be minimal hardware advantages that don't affect game play anything like as much as aim-assist does. It would open the game up and I think players would enjoy it more. Although queue times for MnK players might make it unworkable.

This is presumably why people believe aim-assist is lower on PC, where controller users on PC mix with MnK users on PC. So it makes sense to lower aim-assist to give MnK users a chance. I don't have any proof to back up the claim that aim-assist is 40% on PC and 60% on consoles. I read something about organised tournaments using 40% but again, I'm not sure.

In my opinion, controllers with aim-assist should not be in the same lobbies as MnK. I would hope that controller users on PC would then adopt MnK as their preferred control. But if they didn't then queue times for MnK would be bad, presumably.

It's all too late for this now anyway. This should have been in at release. It was possible to play based on aim-assist or no aim assist in GTA V. But in Apex the developers must have decided it wasn't suitable.
  • @warslag
Would lowering console AA to match pc really balance things out though?
Though I don't really see what's so op about the current AA, I'd be willing to give it a try.

@XxColdFangxX the problem isnt the console vs pc it is the 0.4 AA controller players on pc where MK players is 0.0000 AA. we can turn of crossplay but pc players with controller still play on the pc side of the crossplay
  • @warslag I always assumed the difference in AA strength was because of FPS (Frames Per Second) as someone mentioned earlier. The more accurate an enemy's position is on your screen the easier it is to track, land, and predict your shots. I wouldn't know though since I'm not on PC and the difference may not feel noticeable.

Console players that team up with a pc friend automatically get forced into pc lobbies. Otherwise the title of this topic would be different.
