I may be waaay off the mark here (I doubt it) but this sounds like a carry over from the sbmm debacle. What is it with the high tier (i assume thats you, idk) players in this game being so absolutely toxic to those who dont live up to their expectations?
For what it's worth, event or regular, I find myself abandoned by high ranking players SIGNIFICANTLY more than the lower ones. As someone who falls in what I would call the "decidedly average" category (lvl124, 35 s3 wins, 3-4 kill 1k damage per game average) I would much rather be placed in a squad with 2 other players at lvl 50 than in a squad with 20 kill badges and a TTV wraith, for the very simple matter that I'm statistically far less likely to be advised to suffocate on my own genitals when I miss a shot.
If we are going to attribute "skill level" as a persistent issue in Apex, then it's not the low skilled players who are the problem here.

@blkarmphoenix agreed,
It boils down to two things really, ego and the ability to work with others. Some people just ain't cut out to be team players, some people think they're too good to need teammates.
Both think their teams are the problem. :,)

Since SBMM is active, the question is, why are you in the same group as low skilled players?
Shouldn't be possible and many other players complain about too hard enemies and less low skilled oponents....
So you telling the complete opposite of what many others experience!
Interresting...

@blkarmphoenixI’ll try and explain.
Most ppl do regular or ranked apex. Some try the new LTM. If you see in 3 rounds or more that your teammate LITERALLY gets killed within 20 secs of landing while you juggle multiple squads with the other, that gets you thinking.
In the end you did 1500... what do you see them (them as in that one guy or maybe both) do, 150... how do you do 150 with 6 targets crossed over at LEAST 3 rounds... tell me?this has almost nothing to do with SBMM, cause I hardly think a requirement is ‘good at hot drop scenarios’, which this game mode namely is. Being good at CQC, think fast or be tactical while getting sprayed left & right.
If you constantly die right away or don’t even gain 200 dmg in at least 3 rounds, you’re either not good in tense situations, or really bad in CQC, or have bad judgement or luck... and this is no judgement other than perception.- 6 years ago@Koochi-Q
Sure. I understand. I made my first post on these forums a few weeks ago and I'm pretty sure you chimed in there as well. My post was regarding the requests for solos mode, and a bit of a rant regarding toxic solo squadders. One of you (you beautiful high forum xp people you) told me to give it time, if I was any sort of decent I'd be there eventually.
As the prophecy fortold, shortly after creating that post I hit something of a stride where my game sense started clicking, I got my control sensitivities dialed in, and I just started playing better. At this point I did in fact find myself getting frustrated when paired with less proficient players.
BUT
I had to attitude adjust myself reeeal quick, because I refuse to be a toxic player. What I feel like is majorly lacking here, is the ability for those who've played longer to give new players time to adjust and gather their bearings.
Poor PC performance
Poor network connectivity
Low quality display
Low quality peripherals
Lack of headphones
Excess ambient noise
Gaming in a high distraction area (living room with siblings/housemates)
Recent platform or control scheme switches
Being unfamiliar with BR or shooters in general
Casual gaming in lieu of regular gaming
Drugs
Alcohol
Attention demanding pets
Attention demanding kids
Compromised eyesight
Compromised hearing
Too much caffeine
Too little caffeine
Ambient room temperature
All of the things I listed above could be a reason why that one (or both) player(s) only got 150 dmg over 3 rounds. However the one thing that won't fix ANY of those things, is getting upset with the person, and obscenely telling them they're garbage and should throw their system away.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not naive. This is am issue present in online interaction in general. For some reason though, Apex does seem to have a higher concentration of this de-humanizing attitude than other games I've played.
I'll close with a story. I quit a game shortly after drop several weeks ago. Don't know who my teammates were, but we dropped in, got a kill or two, and I straight up bailed. Now I'm sure, that behind their screens, the other two players probably called me trash. They probably seethed, blamed respawn for a broken game, drooled over the idea of solos, and probably assumed instantly that I was a garbage butthole who doesn't deserve to breathe, let alone play Apex. Who knows, maybe they came here to complain about low level players bailing on their squads.
So here's what happened...
My 7 year old daughter had come down the hall to tell me that one of our family housecats was nowhere to be found. After she insisted that the cat was not in the house, I left the game. Turns out the cat had escaped earlier that day, and a cold front was coming in that night. After looking outside for an hour I called it a night. I then listened to my wife bawl with guilt about letting the cat out.
For the next 3 days, that cat stayed missing. Despite looking during the day, I played Apex at night to take my mind off the situation, and I played terribly as would be expected. At the end of the 3rd day we found our kitty, all was once again right with the world, and I was able to turn my full mental energy toward my gameplay again.
All I'm saying, is that the tendency to instantly assume to worst about a stranger, and the constant refusal to give another human the benefit of the doubt breeds toxicity.
Sure. Maybe that person got 150 damage because they're literal garbage. But I choose to believe that maybe, just maybe there may be more factors at play than whatever we pull off the top of our head to write someone off with.- 6 years ago@blkarmphoenix I like your post... first off, has the cat found his way home?
To the reasons as to why they played badly. I wasn’t verbally abusive, heck I don’t even have my mic on most of the time. When we dropped the first time, both me and the other teammate were pinging where enemies were going. What this this guy do? Go straight towards where 2 teams are already fighting. So he comes in late obviously and bam, within 5 seconds he’s dead. I’m like ‘okay dumb move, but whatever’.
Second time same issue, goes straight where we’re not going, tries to fight and ends up dying.
Third time... I don’t even exactly know what happend here but he already touched down while I was still flying, heard him shooting and got downed right when I touch downed.
Now any of the reasons you mentioned and more are viable. But it’s my belief that if you are preoccupied or inebriated in any way, you shouldn’t play games where ppl need you. That’s just bad teamwork. It wouldn’t be so bad in a teambased game where you have ‘unlimited’ lives like CoD. But this is something else entirely.
Thats why I stated that he’s either unlucky, bad or one of the other reasons he played that badly. It didn’t help that he was lvl 89 as well.
Also I’m not saying I’m extremely good, I’m not. I can hold my own in close quarters and hot dropping. Some just can’t. You can see it in their movements, the way they shoot, heck even when they run away. I’ve seen (in the 4 matches I’ve played) ppl run in a straight line when getting shot. If you know anything about CQC you know not to do that, cause thats what gets you killed. Others are using the longbow on the train when fighting someone with an automatic weapon. Either you’re extremely confident/cocky or entirely stupid OR out of ammo but so far I’ve yet to even burn through half my ammo...
So yea there’s a multitude of reasons why someone wasn’t performing well, but I didn’t berate them on it, it was more, seen it, seen it again and again so yea something’s definitely up so posting here to warn ppl.
Same thing was also happening on the mirage voyager. People shootind the decoy mirages because they thought that it was a real person either because they got scared, were so focused they shoot everything or buckled under the pressure xD

@blkarmphoenixas reference. Im doing about 2k+ damage and 5-10 kills a game. Winning about a third of them. I regress. I suppose my post was “bashing” lower skilled players, especially because I had a handful of games in a row with only one teammate (won several times with just two). Each time it was a low skilled player who left us. But I do agree that traditionally higher skilled players have ditched the team just as often. As far as skill goes. I’m not worried about playing with less skilled teammates, especially in this mode! It’s better then regular match’s with them was my point! Way better! I don’t have to wast time looting and we all get more opportunity to fight! That being said, it’s also easier to identify lower skill players with so much combat time.
Didn’t mean it as a “bash” on skill. Only an observation. - 6 years ago
