Revenant old abilities needed tweaks, Not replacement.
I just cant understand the mindset behind completely changing the role of a character to satisfy a specific audience. Revenant was the only character whose abilities were changed from Nerfing opponents/Buffing teammates (By giving them a second life) to Movement based/Self buffing character AND he was also the only character whose class was completely changed from assault to skirmisher. First of all as I mentioned in another post his current ult is not only boring to play with/ Annoying to deal against but its also completely uncreative and require no skill. If you want to win a 1v1 but you arent confident with your skill then just use it and push. Chances are your opponent wont even try after they realize they wasted half of their mag shooting a shield. And I do say this as a Revenant main myself. His old totem required a lot of skill and concentration and it was very risky would you misuse it. And on top of that it made sense when it was paired with the other old abilities. Get on top. Use totem. drop down. Go crazy with silences/nades and heavy fire. Get sent back and now you can finish off your supposedly weak opponents who cant use their abilities to escape/play around what you did and they are spending too much time recovering from the damage. However it had so many drawbacks and risks. One of them is the potential of being 3rd partied after you get sent back by the enemy team who (should they be opportunistic) then they would just wait for you to get sent back to finish you off (And this was why you must try to wipe the squad you push as a shadow to prevent this from happening). His old tactical, Silence. On the other hand. Had so much potential and was very fun to make use of. The very idea of Stalking your prey and locking it down was a very fun/fresh/creative idea that we unfortunately lack nowdays (And its weird and strange because youd assume this should have been a thing in a modern shooter that revolves around abilities). His current tac. Shadow leap. Is good but in my opinion Silence resembled Revenant and expressed him more accurately. Hell even his voicelines give off the vibe of being a predatory stalking assassin who (Out of nowhere) lock his prey and savagely devour them. So now, To the most important note ''How can we make it better?''. Heres how:
- Silence can be paired with recon abilities. And by this I mean marking your opponent on Silence hit. This is very beneficial Because not only are you clearly seeing and focusing on the silenced opponent you are trying to take down but your teammates also know whom did you silence.
- It can obscure vision and hearing. Truly deeming your preys unable to resist.
- I have this interesting idea of negating the silenced enemy teammates from seeing their silenced mate HP or from communicating with their teammates (However only characters voicelines would be affected and players would still be able to communicate with their microphones) But this is controversial for many reasons and I doubt they should implement it...
- Death totem can be more aggressive and more interactable. Similar to how Alter can interact with her Void Nexus to summon back allies. Revenant should be able to turn his teammates to shadows upon Death Totem use (With their consent of course). And on top of that. He can receive a speed boost after returning to the totem so that he can finish off his opponents quickly.
Honestly there are many ways they can implement to make him a lot more fun and creative and most importantly powerful. Tell me what you bros think 😃
