I’m not convinced that reducing the SBMM would result in the game dying. Apex was doing well before they ramped things up (back before the Duos update in 2019); the game had grossed close to half a billion at that point. I agree that they are probably making even more money now, we’re talking about a company maximizing profits, not outright saving their game from death.
I get it though. People love their SBMM. Some people feel that every single match should be as ultra competitive and sweaty as possible. SBMM isn’t going anywhere. But my argument is that they need to reward above average players more for their skill.
If I’m going to sweat in public lobbies that LITERALLY have over 80% Pred contrails (despite those players only constituting less than 1% of the player base) then I should be offered greater incentive to play. Once you reach level 500, sweating in pubs is actually pointless. They need to either increase the level cap or offer better rewards.

What does your level have to do with anything? Level is no indicator of skill level or ability so it's completely irrelevant.

I talked about level because experience and level can technically be used as a reward. My previous argument was:
If high ELO players are going to be stressed in pubs, they should be rewarded more for their efforts; a lot of us players are already capped at 500.- DankToliet4 years agoSeasoned Ace
I watched a guy join the party with 4 different accounts last night because he didn't remember which one his gold rank smurf was on. This is out of control.
